SATIN GUARD is a paint protection film from Prestige Film Technologies that gives it a nice satin sheen. What's very unique about this product compared to others we have used and tested is that it has what the manufacturer calls Dual Tone Technology, which gives a satin metallic look in direct sunlight and in lower lighting conditions a mattish effect. Do not get confused between Satin Guard and matte vinyl. This product is the same thickness as paint protection film and is translucent in color (clear) vs. matte vinyl, which is a thin colored piece of laminate.

SPECTRA PHOTOSYNC
Welcome to the latest technology in window tint. It was not long ago that ceramic tint was the #1 product on the market just 6-7 years ago. We have been testing this product since 2008 and finally gave the thumbs up to carrying this product. So what makes it different from all the tints on the market? On this C63 Black Series, we will be installing Spectra PhotoSync65 on the front two windows and 55% on the rear 3 glasses. Since the Black Series' only come with a Pano roof, it can get quite hot, so it was a wise decision of the owner to go with 45% on the glass roof.

Satin finishes are the best!

 

For those who are unaware what Satin Guard is.....first of all, it is not vinyl. It is of the same material from traditional paint protection film (aka clear bra), so it protects like it. It is a translucent product that comes with a 2 tone effect. In direct sunlight, there are satin metallic flakes that are visible and in ambient lighting, it looks matte.

Also, there is a fair distinction between Satin Guard and some of the other products out there such as Ventureshield matte, Xpel, etc. Satin Guard exhibits satin metallic flakes in direct sunlight and in lower lighting conditions, look matte. It also protects like paint protection film and comes with an oil resisting coating (no more finger prints!) that makes cleaning this product a cinch!

Lovely project, any chance of some other photos of your work in the garage? I see exotic car silhouettes in the shadows

 

I've been using Xpel Stealth on my cars the last few years, and you can see the metallic flakes as well.

 

We've used their products in the past and have discontinued use due to striations and lines in their film that are quite pronounced. As for the metallic flakes, it's nothing compared to what we see on Satin Guard.

Not to mention the front lip spoiler. All of the black painted portions of the car, we protected them with ClearGuardX, which gives a nice contrast to Satin Guard on the rest of the car.

In addition to Satin Guard, we also installed Spectra PhotoSync Nano tint to his car with 65% on the front two windows, 55% on the rear three, and 45% on the sunroof. That is amazing work! For parts like the diffuser, where there are a ton of compound curves, do you do multiple pieces of material, or lots of relief cuts and heat to make it work. I know that cannot be easy.

 

Yes, you are right. This is one of those cars that are quite difficult, but once complete wears the Satin Guard so nicely! As for relief openings, they are minimal if any.

 

 

 

GreenLantern, loving the car so much more now that you got the Magic Matt film, on silver metallic, letting the sparkle and the Iridium hue show through is astonishing! Know you did your research, but want to say I think you chose wisely having a protection film with no compromises, and a rare look that is not flat matt like so many these days. And I like the idea (and the looks) of going clear film on the carbon fiber. Perfect in every way!
