difference between BS & E63
I currently own a W211 E63 and am considering getting a BS, I know the cars have the same engines. Can anyone tell me the difference between the two in terms of performance, suspension, trans etc...? i know they are completely different and i am in no way comparing the two i just know the E63 and that would give me something to compare to.

What year is your E63? I believe 2009 and newer E63's came with the 7G-Tronic MCT transmission which is a multi-clutch system as opposed to a traditional torque convertor set-up on the CLK BS. I have never owned an E63 so I can not give you a list of which or what is better but I can tell you that the MCT trans in the E is a much better transmission that the one in the CLK, my C BS has the MCT. The MCT shifts much quicker and smoother and reacts to paddle inputs a little faster. That being said a CLK BS will still spank an E63 around a race track. Another difference, LSD is standard on CLK and depending on what year E either not available or optional, I don't think a LSD rear-end was ever standard on the W211. Then we have the additional cooling on the CLK, trans cooler, rear dif cooler, larger oil cooler. I am not an expert on E's hopefully someone will chime in that owns or has owned both vehicles.

My E63 is an 07 so no MCT trans. There's no doubt the BS will spank it on the track but what about 0-60 & 1/4 mile? How much quicker is the BS. My car has an EC tube and feels very strong. Also, aside from a SC what can be done to the BS performance wise? On the at it's pretty much exhaust, tune and filters. Beyond that it's an SC. What's the preferred year BS?

The transmission 'manual' mode sucks on both of them. Plain and simple. On the E63 it is somewhat acceptable, because it is still a family car at heart. But the CLK63 Black Series should really have had a better manual mode for the kind of car that it is.
Both cars fly like a bat out of hell when you punch the gas, but the CLK63 Black Series just SOUNDS BETTER!! The bark when you start it is better...the roar on full throttle is better....the burbling of the exhaust when you let off of the gas is better. Also, with the push of a button you can kill the TCS in the Black Series and get crazy with it, where you really have to go through a complex process to just get the E63 system to be 90% off. Plus, the handling is on a totally different level in the Black Series. Going into that cloverleaf exit at 60 mph and don't want to slow down? In a Black Series...no problem! In an E63.....you maaaaaay want to slow down....a lot!
In short, the only similarity is the engine really. But....that being said, it is that sound and power that makes me love my E63, and continue to search for a CLK63 Black Series. It is just on hell of a good engine, and the sound and power delivery is so beautiful and amazing. Gotta have the pair.
