2015 Blip Day - Interested?
The downshift is delayed or "missed" to protect the engine from over revving. I don't think anyone wants their trans to downshift and have the motor rev past 6-7K RPM. That can't be good long term.
I'm not sure if that's a byproduct of the software trying to avoid power load to the engine which can be bypassed if there is rev matching on downshifts. Hope this question makes sense.
Perhaps you can have Weistec answer questions directly on this thread as I'm sure it would be useful for everyone interested in this mod and alleviates you from being a middle-man for them. If they can update their website then they can update this thread as well.

Let us know if we are answering your question properly. The input the transmission electronics receive from the paddle behind your wheel (or shifter in this case) can only be clicked down at a certain rate. It is dependent upon time and engine speed. We do decrease the rate which allows you to hit the paddle at a faster rate (more downshifts in a quicker time).
This does however have its disclaimers. Because this is an automatic transmission that is controlling multiple clutch packs, it can never be mechanically as fast as say a DCT transmission. We can calibrate the TCU to do something lightning fast, but the mechanics can't keep up. Because of this, we calibrate the TCU to work well with the hardware. This will assure to issues down the road with use. Let us know if this makes sense. Thanks.

I wonder what the pros/cons of retrofitting a DCT on the CLK63BS would be?!?!

I imagine it would use this transmission (or similar, 2nd page):

Probably more a programing challenge than a physical trans swap issue.

If I ever get to Dubai, I'll have to check out your car and road course there!

I came from the ISFs 8AT which is factory rev matched and honestly performs much better than the BSs 7AT. So I'm hoping this mod can close the gap a bit.

Hi Carlos,
There are some forum members who have posted no problems since they have done the Rev Match Mod upgrade. Earlier Tex5 posted 11000KM with no problems!
Weistec have configured the Rev Match Mod settings with safety and reliability in mind.
There are several posts in this forum that talk about Ralf's Blip upgrade and the experience people have had over the years, mainly all positive.
Thanks!

What is interesting to know is that the gearbox hardware is the same between C63 mark 1 and CLK 63 (BS or bot). The C63 has the blip throttle.
The mod's Ralf (I think the one used by Weistec too) is a merge between C63 and CLK 63 ECU/TCU software.
So for warranty I think there is none, but the risk is low in my opinion.
The information about reliability of the blip are based on my experience with the Ralf's mod. If the Weistec's one is not the same I don't know.

Thanks!
I opted for the Bip software and ECU tune. Haven't had much of a chance to open her up yet (LA traffic) but so far so good. The rev match is superb! And the Weistec customer service was excellent.

Thanks again to Weistec for hosting this event and having an open house to see all the great projects and quality engineering Weistec does.
The Rev Match upgrade adds another dimension of exciting driving fun to the already amazing CLK63BS!
Let the picture posting continue....
