Wow, what a great deal. Really like the rev-matching option.

The downshift is delayed or "missed" to protect the engine from over revving. I don't think anyone wants their trans to downshift and have the motor rev past 6-7K RPM. That can't be good long term.
Thanks for the 411, I'm actually not talking about over revving on downshifts. The transmission as it stands will miss multiple downshift inputs in succession even in low RPMs. For example if I'm cruising in 4th at 2500rpm and tap the paddle twice, it will go to 3rd and ignore my input for 2nd even though 2nd would put me in the mid rpm range.

I'm not sure if that's a byproduct of the software trying to avoid power load to the engine which can be bypassed if there is rev matching on downshifts. Hope this question makes sense.

Perhaps you can have Weistec answer questions directly on this thread as I'm sure it would be useful for everyone interested in this mod and alleviates you from being a middle-man for them. If they can update their website then they can update this thread as well.

We are here! We apologize about not responding to this thread. We were going to create a completely new thread that has more information about the tuning available for these cars, as well as our open house we are having on the 17th of January to invite fellow MB enthusiasts.

Let us know if we are answering your question properly. The input the transmission electronics receive from the paddle behind your wheel (or shifter in this case) can only be clicked down at a certain rate. It is dependent upon time and engine speed. We do decrease the rate which allows you to hit the paddle at a faster rate (more downshifts in a quicker time).

This does however have its disclaimers. Because this is an automatic transmission that is controlling multiple clutch packs, it can never be mechanically as fast as say a DCT transmission. We can calibrate the TCU to do something lightning fast, but the mechanics can't keep up. Because of this, we calibrate the TCU to work well with the hardware. This will assure to issues down the road with use. Let us know if this makes sense. Thanks.

^^Thank you!^^

I wonder what the pros/cons of retrofitting a DCT on the CLK63BS would be?!?!

I imagine it would use this transmission (or similar, 2nd page):
http://www.getrag.com/media/products...00/7DCI700.pdf

Probably more a programing challenge than a physical trans swap issue.

Best thing would be to email sales@weistec.com to get a quotation for the remote upgrade.

If I ever get to Dubai, I'll have to check out your car and road course there!

Thanks Weistec for the clarification. Good to know that the downshift frequency threshold is increased with the tune. I'm not expecting DCT levels of performance of course haha. How about upshift speed? Is it tangibly increased?

I came from the ISFs 8AT which is factory rev matched and honestly performs much better than the BSs 7AT. So I'm hoping this mod can close the gap a bit.

rev match guarantee? Could be dangerous?

I ve been following this mod from time ago and i think its brilliant. Im from Spain and i have a wonderful white CLK BS since 5 years, wich is already one more of the familiy ( you can see it on our web page: www.themotorteam.com) One year ago i asked a friend who has a tuner in Barcelona city ( aptperformance.com) they work with Kleemann and advice me that exist a real posibility that the Rev Match Mod could damage the transmission. He dont recomended. This Guys works with the best (by their hands has passed Buggati Veyron, F40..) and for that reason i decided to let it in stand by. What do you think about?? What kind of guarantee is Weistec giving us?? Thank u all.

Hi Carlos,

There are some forum members who have posted no problems since they have done the Rev Match Mod upgrade. Earlier Tex5 posted 11000KM with no problems!

Weistec have configured the Rev Match Mod settings with safety and reliability in mind.

There are several posts in this forum that talk about Ralf's Blip upgrade and the experience people have had over the years, mainly all positive.

Thanks!

Hi Moflo, Thank u for your answer! Yes i know, no problems has been reported and the videos seems wonderful. In fact i talked with Raplh a year ago, but after talking with my friend, i let it in stand by. But what about the guarantee of Weistec?? I think that it is the minimal to aks before!! Sorry if here it is not the best way to talk about, but I am worried about the safety of our cars. I send this week a letter to AMG asking about their opinion about the mod!! If they agree i will do for sure!! )

AMG will answer you that it is not supported and they can not do it.
What is interesting to know is that the gearbox hardware is the same between C63 mark 1 and CLK 63 (BS or bot). The C63 has the blip throttle.
The mod's Ralf (I think the one used by Weistec too) is a merge between C63 and CLK 63 ECU/TCU software.
So for warranty I think there is none, but the risk is low in my opinion.

The information about reliability of the blip are based on my experience with the Ralf's mod. If the Weistec's one is not the same I don't know.

Thanks for putting this together Moflo! ...and big thanks to Zach and crew at Weistec. Great turn out today. Was nice to see so many BS's in one place.
I opted for the Bip software and ECU tune. Haven't had much of a chance to open her up yet (LA traffic) but so far so good. The rev match is superb! And the Weistec customer service was excellent.

What a great meet yesterday at Weistec. Got to see so many CLK Blacks! How is the rev-matching so far for those that got it?

I did my Rev-match through Ralf last Summer, no problems. He also did a Stage II mod for faster shifts (I paid extra). The Rev-match works great! Is it faster? Not fast enough to tell a difference after 2 weeks of it being apart.

Big thanks to Weistec for hosting a great event. As usual, it was nice meeting everyone and catching up with old members.

I didn't get a chance to take more photos (there were a lot of great cars that showed up), but here are a few from my phone.

That late 60's/early 70's SEL looks like a cool build. I would love to see it when its done.

Great to meet everyone in person. Look forward to see everyone at the next event!

Thanks again to Weistec for hosting this event and having an open house to see all the great projects and quality engineering Weistec does.

The Rev Match upgrade adds another dimension of exciting driving fun to the already amazing CLK63BS!

Let the picture posting continue....

I think there were at least 12 CLK63s that showed up.

From what I remember:

5 - Iridium Silver
3 - Arctic White
2 - Black
1 - Mars Red
1 - Gray

You should join us next time. Would like to see your matte gray wrap in person.
