New clk63 bs owner in need of advice

Hi and thanks you for your time. I just purchased a ckk63 that is not in the best of shape. I have decided to spend some money and bring her up to par. My first question is for any leads on a good w209 bs mechanic. What shop is known for having more than 1 bs customer. I know that evosport used to do some stuff with this application but unfortunately I believe they no longer exist. Most of my problems are pretty simple to fix. One issue I'm concerned about is hard to describe. It feels like the esp is way too sensitive. If the car is leaning aggressively on a turn, the power from the gas pedal gets cut momentarily. If I leave it in sport and get on it from a 10 mph rolling start, it does the same cutoff when it's in 2nd gear right around 5,000 rpm. I had a star tool hooked up hoping for a yawn or any sensor code. Is there any know transmission issue(besides the slow default software. I'm totally going to do the rev match upgrade in the near future). The only codes stored had to do with the power control unit. Soon I will post pics of this project. I am excited to get this beast running right. Has anyone integrated the escort radar detector into the existing cluster. I've done it to a r230 sl63 and was wondering if it can be done to the clk63. My car did not come with tpms and was also wondering if anyone has figured out how to add the option. I have followed this car since it was debut. I've been a real lurker and thought I knew what this car was. After just a short weekend of driving it, I was so surprised to hiw this car amazed me. Being a fan for so long and then to be totally blown away is really something. Feel free to offer any advice and thanks

Welcome to the CLK BS family

You are right, this car is amazing.

For the parktronic, I heard it was done on a CLK BS in europe. The electronic is the same as non BS CLK so no worries about OEM partronik retrofit, except you need tu cut in the front and rear bumper.
Sorry I understood partronik when you where speaking of radar detector (forbidden in europe)

For the TPMS, it seems to be on US CLK BS but not on Euro Spec.

Weistec have done several CLK BS and offer some upgrades. For example, on my CLK BS I have :
- Oil /Air separator,
- Aluminum Billet Idler Pulleys,
- Aluminum and bigger capacity Transmission Pan
- Rear Differential Mount Bushing

Not sure where you are located but there are a couple of good shops in TX, 5th Gear in Lewisville look after a couple of track BS's and really know their stuff, and have been good to me. Houston also has a Eurocharged.

As for the TPMS, I've owned 2 US CLK BS's and neither had that option. I think it depends on when they where built.

As for the ESP, it is sensitive, if you don't like that, just turn it off.

Happened to me too. It wasn't the ESP engaging, but the latency from the event that should have triggered it. Specifically, it would engage well after a slow turn when the car was now heading straight. Engaging while it's in the turn I get because w/the CLK BS, it's easy to break the rear loose and I knew better than to do something that would get me a 100K views on YouTube. Never figured that out why it would bog like that.

GL w/the new ride. Post pics when you get a chance.

Turn off the traction control and the gas pedal cutting off goes away. Yes I run with mine off quite frequently just for that reason. The car is easy to control should it slide and it does.

Don't forget about renntech company in Florida . I bought my clk63 from there . I was lucky , they had one there with only 11xxx miles and tons of upgrades . They know the BS really well , however expensive . I love my car , just too loud , got to make it quieter . I don't have issues with my ESP , I've even ran with it on at the track and it came on on occasion . But I have there diff and the rear stays locked unless it's in turn and one will slip a little . But i drive a lot with it turned off . Also look into the headbolt problem and can adjuster issue . Mine didn't have the cam issue but they replaced the head bolts for prevention . Only two issue I'm aware of.

I drive about an hour north to Huntington Beach and take my car to BenzsWorks he's the only guy that knows literally any random thing about my BS.

I have never had any issues with throttle cutting during turns and I have never turned off traction control , I'm scared

I reallly appreciate every ones response. The main reason I posted was to find the best techs that are experienced with the bs and to figure out why my car is cutting power. Unfortunately I did not do the best job describing what I'm experiencing. If in sport mode- when the car is in 2nd gear and I press the gas pedal all the way down. The power increases as it should and right before the trans should shift, the car hesitates(gets confused) cuts complete power and then eventually goes into to 3rd. If I drive the car in M mode and manually shift the car, no hesitation. Also if I throw the car into an aggressive turn and really lean the car. It will do the same hesitation. Almost like the esp was triggered. I've ruled out the esp as the cause after I've had time playing with the car. The good news is that I have ordered a ton of parts that need attention. So this car will get time in the lift. This is when I will have a better understanding of what is really going on with the car. But since I like the guessing game... maybe the car is misfiring? Maybe the something is loose(connection related). I praying I don't have a transmission issue. I will post after the car gets attention.

While moving, quickly flooring the gas pedal and releasing in auto mode will trigger a downshift if I'm not mistaken. That might be part of the issue you're having. Doubt irs mechanical. More likely a TCU/ECU fix if anything.

With your ESP problem you describe, i had a similar issue with my BS.

The problem in the end was the rear sway bar bushings were worn. I replaced the rear sway bar and the problem went away

Did you get these things figured out? RennTech in Florida did some work on my car, and their customer care is exceptional. This car is tons of fun, so when you hit the gas pedal, be prepared for the TCS to activate. The Black Series likes to try to spin its tires to show other cars how awesome it is.
