Park Place LTD - horrible dealership...the search continues.
So, much like a crackhead returning to the source, I have been keeping my eye open for another Black Series. But one that I would be okay with leaving outside since the only reason the other one was sold was lack of garage space, and my refusal to leave a car that perfect outside.
Anyway, I noticed that this one that Park Place LTD has for sale in Bellevue, Washington has been for sale at different dealerships for the better part of 2 years at least.
http://www.parkplaceltd.com/used-car...TJ77H28F244559
The funny thing is that it was at Landmark Motors in Bellevue (which I understand to be the consignment arm of Park Place LTD) for a loooooooong time (read approximately 2 years), and the last time I saw it the car had been wearing the price of approximately $59k for at least 1 year. Park Place LTD was now listing it for just a few dollars shy of $67k for some reason.
So I reached out to them through their Ebay ad and made an offer of a few thousand dollars behind the $59k number where it sat when at Landmark Motors, figuring that if the market was not willing to pay $59k for a 37k mile car, I was not going to bury myself in it either. I explained that my reasoning was that it had been for sale for years at the lower price with no takers, hoping that the contact at Park Place had a clue that I was not just firing out a number without research or thought.
Anyway, this is where the fun starts. I get a message back through Ebay that says, "Never been offered at a lower price than what it is now. The owner passed away - received from an estate sale. $66k might buy it. At $5Xk you might have to buy one of the many other white Black Series out there. Sorry too low."
Not only did the general tone tick me off, but his answer was an outright and blatant lie. Trying to give the benefit of the doubt that maybe he was not aware that it was for sale at Landmark Motors for almost $8k less just months ago, I replied back by letting him know as much, and that it was not in fact from an estate sale (I verified this part through another source), but was from a dealership listed as their consignment lot.
Thinking that this may have sorted out what I was hoping was just a miscommunication, I figured his attitude would change. Instead I get back the message, "I guess you should have bought it from them at that time!"
What the heck kind of customer service is that?? It blows my mind that someone would treat a customer like that, and all in light of the guy blatantly lying about the pricing and the car never being listed for less, and lying about where the car came from in the first place. If the owners of the dealership let people like that stay on staff, then I feel sorry for anyone that deals with them. It was the general, "Hey! F*CK YOU! If you want a white Black Series pay me this stupid amount of money or **** off," attitude that blows me away the most. Especially for a car that was not selling for years at the LOWER price. No desire to help whatsoever.

Yes. Nero went to a new home in Florida back on June 17th. Needless to say, I have been quite sad ever since. The only redeeming part is that he went to a true enthusiast (and forum member). So it helps to know he is in a good home, where winter does not exist.

I was in the same situation here in Europe a few months ago. I was looking for a second-hand GLE. I saw one at a dealership for 65k, just what I wanted.... I called the dealership and they told me there was a "sale pending". A month ago I see exactly the same car at another dealership for sale for 74k. So I called them to discuss it. They told me that the car was on consignment for a customer but that the best they can do was 72,5k... So I totally understand your situation, it's just ridiculious... I found another one which looks even better

CLK63 Black Series
Typical STEALership games. As Shady as they can come. This is exactly why most have that name attached to them. They can never be honest and straight forward. Always out to hustle someone. How can you respect them????

Funny story - sometime ago Park Place
had a silver one that had come from a
dealer in Florida where it went unsold
I stopped by to take a look and was
approached by a salesman
Straight up I told him I saw the car
listed on the internet
The salesman began telling me about the
car as if I had no knowledge of the CLK63 BS
The BS emblem on the boot had been buffed
to the point where the color black was removed
Pictures show correct OEM emblems
When I asked about the rear emblem and if they
were going to replace it the salesman replied that
I knew nothing about the Black Series and that
black series was just a name that had nothing to
do with the color of the car or its emblems and that
was how it came from the factory and
that if I did not believe him I should look it up
I gave him a good day and left
The car did not sell and was shipped back to the
dealer in Florida from whence it came...
Thank-You

I talked with a friend who worked for many
years at Park Place - he said that Park Place
and Landmark are not connected in anyway
Also that car may be on consignment to sell
at Park Place from Landmark - most likely
they would split the profit - so to make any
money at all - Park Place has to jack the price
And the beat goes on...
Thank-You
D.B.
Edit: Besides raising the price Park Place did
change the center caps on all 4 wheels

Listen to CooperDB!
Yes this car came from an Estate liquidation.
Landmark had it first and the price jumped around alot with the car supposedly selling but then returned days later.
This car is also heavily modified but not in the best ways, completely new suspension as if AMG didn't get it right.
If this car sells it should be used as the basis for a fun track only car, not street use or collectible item.
As for Park Place Ltd now selling it, they are doing so on consignment for Landmark.
ParkPlace is one of those dealerships that feel if you have to ask you can't afford it and would probably treat you the same if you offered them just $50 less then asking.
On a side note Portland Craigslist has a Mars Red car with 50,000+ documented dealer serviced miles selling for $58k, I would start there.

Just an FYI, This car in question just was lowered again to $59,9! This thing has sat so long and has so many changes done to it they should literally price it as a standard modified CLK and be done with it.

what's clearing price of that car you think? maybe 55k. I would not touch it b/c I hate those wheels and the terrible ride it probably provides.

I paid a lot more for mine a few months ago. Ok mine has only 10k miles and is probably in a little better shape than this one but at this price, it's a steal!

And what's the issue with this car exactly? If the details are known locally, it's maybe better to tell every BS enhusiasts about this car. Better safe than sorry, no?

Like D.B. said not a steal, except if your the seller!
I know of at least 5 other CLK Black Series cars in the Northwest which would greatly benefit from this car just disapearing!
If we got at least 200 of us in the Black Series community to pitch in $250 we could buy this P.O.S. and make it an organ donor for our community and help values for the rest of us!

I'm in. I would like to make this CLKBS a dedicated track car to be used in the race across America type event (SCCA, OPTIMA, USSCA, HPDE, etc). So everyone involved would be able to drive the car when the event is near by them.
We all chip in for general maintenance and if anyone breaks it, they fix it. Many other logistical items involved as well...
Just an idea FWIW...

This car while at Park Place as well as the previous dealer
had the carbon fiber engine cover
When it left Park Place and arrived at its current home
the carbon fiber engine cover was no longer on the engine
And the beat goes on...
Thank-You
