CLK63 AMG Black Series & 1994 MB E500
As a CLK63 BS owner I tend to agree, it will go up in value, but I think it take 20 to 25 years to get to that near original sticker price range. We're already 11 years in. Rarity, fender flares, the engine all good ingredients. I have a 1994 E500 that I paid $36k for in 1996. That car has a better story to it than the BS, and is arguably one of the last great true Benzes, it has low 40k mileage and the interior and exterior are very good. I could probably get $70k for it today, but it took 25 years get there and its still not at it's original sticker price back in 1994. I think there is a limit however, will the CLK Black Series ever be a $200k or $300k car I highly doubt it.

I LOVE the concept of a GT3 class race car for the street, and appreciate the efforts of AMG to bring us something close to that, however I must say I am not sure if I like the implementation. I feel like if you are going to make a car like this, you either go all out with say 95% of the appearance of the GT3 car or it just seems to fall short. A couple things that stand out to me are:
- The rear exhaust/diffuser. The quad rear pipes don't do it for me. The GTR/Pro center exhaust and 2 outer exhausts seems more exotic to me. Side exits would have been awesome.
- No centerlocks? Seems like those would be more appropriate. I feel like this car is having an identity crisis...am I street car or race car.
- Front hood looks busy. A large center radiator outlet akin to the GT3 car would have been perfect.

Were I lucky enough to own a GTR Pro and the means to upgrade, I would be looking at the BS strictly for the performance improvements. But then I'd wonder why the hell they couldn't have done that to my GTR Pro?

I’m sorry but the pictures of it look like some kind of boy racer. The wing looks like it belongs on some teenagers Honda. It just looks like it is trying too hard. Get back to the looks of the CLK63 Black Series or like the SL65 Black Series.

After looking at this new Black series from Mercedes the more I will hang on to my CLK63 B.S. and for those in doubt of the CLK63 B.S potential, look at the facts low production number, V8 normally aspirated with 500 h.p. First black series to the U.S and sold out shortly after available, few famous car enthusiasts own this car and others are looking for one.
It will take a few years ahead and the prices will be unpredictable but its got all the factors to be a collectable car
A 500E could have a great story, my father owns one with some mileage but great condition, soon going on ebay to try to get 30k since he was unable to create any interest among collectors in private sites, they were over 1,500 built by Porsche in order to save them from financial distress but other than fitting a V8 on the engine bay and flare the front fenders what else makes them collectable?
I rather have a limited production Mercedes AMG purebred than a crossbred.

part of your post is true....except they werent sold out, i think due to the high price tag for a "lowly" CLK. There were 2 red ones at the dealership i bought mine from 6-8 months after release and for alot less than sticker.
The AMG GT BS is too quiet IMHO. The era of NA engines is almost done.

If you bought yours at a discount thats even better for limited production car, most limited production cars cary a dealer markup, lets not forget this car came out in the middle of the great recession of 2007-2008. I tried to buy one in early 2008 and the dealer couldn't allocate one available on the system and took me until 2017 to find one at a decent price.

Sold out must have meant they were all sold orders. I’m sure a good part of them were sold to the dealers.

Agree. It is an blast to drive. But the people buying now are not going to put miles on them or take to the track.. More likely, speculators. So when this Mars Red one on BAT closes above $170K, its warm garage, tickle charge and a cover. Maybe you'll see one at a Cars and Coffee.

We're in another collectible car bubble, the crash of the mid-90's has been forgotten. However, what has changed is more people are making big money more easily than ever before in history. I was just reading about the "onlyFans" app and never knew that **** stars are now self titled as "content creators." One woman is making $200k a month. Crazy.
