New (to me) screen
Ok, I am a little slow. I just discovered this screen. Did not realize it existed until I started playing around with the Command system.

I love that screen! I wouldn't have found it either, except it was in saabkyle04's overview of the CLS550 that i watched about a thousand times before I took delivery of my car.

saabkyle04 is hilarious. I, too, watched his review of the CLS but I think I may have overlooked the Command tutorial. Ha ha.

I just found the dedicated compass screen in the navi menu. I was just reading that the steering wheel angle should be displayed in the left portion of this screen, but I don't have this info.
I went into the engineering menu and tried to change the compass from "non-SUV" to "SUV," as that seemed to work for the E-class folks, but it didn't work on my CLS. Oh well, I don't know why I would want to know the steering wheel angle anyway. The COMAND manual that came with my car does state that the steering wheel angle should be visible on the compass screen.
Do any of you have the steering wheel angle displayed?

Success! Got the steering wheel angle to display. I was a virgin to the engineering mode, and I didn't realize you had to leave the car for several minutes before the changes would take effect...
It seems that many E-class owners have the steering wheel angle on display by default. Any fellow CLS owners have it without having to go into the engineering menu?

I don't believe you can set video-in-motion via the engineering mode, but I may be wrong...

in engineering mode press ( hang up phone button ) + 4 + # the same time . you will be in another menu.
check the version in one of these menus.
you can also change some settings. __________________

How did you get the steering appear? Is it engineering mode, HU settings and compass type?

2012 CLS550 Launch Edition
Ohji,
Does your command/navi system have the little globe option for Sirius weather on the top right? My Launch Edition does not but I know that the newer 2012's do have it. I see you have the launch in 4matic. I ask because do not see the compass anywhere on mine.

To get the steering angle, enter the engineering mode. Then select "HW setting," then "HU parameter" then "Compass type." Change the compass type from "non-suv" to "suv" and then power down the car and leave it for 5-10 minutes. When you come back, the steering angle should be displayed alongside the compass.

From your description, it sounds like you have NTG 4.0 with the larger PCMCIA slot. I do have the updated NTG 4.5 with the sirius weather and the SD card slot. I think MB switched over very shortly after the CLS started production. I think the 4MATIC launch editions are among the few cars that got the upgraded NTG 4.5 but still kept the 6 disc DVD changer...

2012 CLS550 Launch Edition
See the above post for how to locate the compass. It is sort of hidden. People with 2010 and 2011 E-class models have it, so I think it is probably a standard feature in COMAND.

Yes, sort of. Select navi, and then with the COMAND knob, select "Position" (might be labeled as "Pos" if you have route guidance in progress), then select "Compass" in the menu that pops up.
