2012 CLS. Any airmatic problems?????????
Can any owners tell me if they have had any airmatic problems on this vehicle?
I'm really nervous of this system since MB seem to be having problems with it.
Can any owners cast some views on this for me, it would be appreciated.

I received a "pull over - car too low" message once, but it was simply a false error. My AIRMATIC is also working perfectly, and I have yet to see someone on this forum report a problem with AIRMATIC on the 2nd gen CLS...

I think airmatic has been greatly improved across the models. These days you see people with engine and trans issues more often than airmatic. Used to be quite the opposite.

I have about 4k miles and not a single issue...
Last I heard of MB having any problems with AIRMATIC was way back when it was first used on the W140 S-class about 15 years ago...

My car (CLS63-2012), after 2 to 3 days off starts, lowering the rear suspension.
The dealer is checking but he informed me that this is not normal.
The mechanics will be disassembling the suspension this week.

CLS 550 RWD Storm Red
Have had my 2012 CLS 550 since Aug of 2011 and just turned 20,000 miles, yes that is twenty thousand. No issues with airmatic, Also had Renn Tech do the ECU upgrade about three weeks ago. That should be in another thread.

W218 airmatic suspension problem
Hello folks!
Firstly, my advance apologies if this issue on W218 has been discussed before.
My W218 was purchased in UK. I was offered a job relocation to Far East. Hence, decided to ship the car there first. So basically, car has not been in-use (due to shipment & port storage etc) for over 7 weeks or so. My shipping agent started the car (no jump start required) whilst still at the port when suddenly a warning appeared on speedometer “Stop vehicle. Vehicle too low”. Car suspension appears to be sagging, not lifting when started.
Diagnostic tool revealed “N51/3 airmatic control unit” error. Not sure why this occurs because my car has only done 5000 miles with no modifications since 2011. Any help from forum superstars here is much appreciated. Many thanks folks.

2013 CLS250 CDI
I had airmatic on my previous e class and after having to replace over time 3 of the struts at a ridiculous price of £800 ($1200ish) each and having intermittent problems I steered well clear of it on this one. Also although comfortable it made the car very floaty on cornering even in sport mode, but the e class is a different type of car with a different customer. I guess it would have been improved on the CLS as it is a sporty car and it is 9 years on.
If you intend keeping it beyond the warranty may be worth checking out how often they are likely to need replacing and how much.

I think MB have improved their quality a lot in the last few years. The CLS is made on the E Class line and also I think the same chassis, so shared parts too. If the E Class forum is showing no issues then thats prob a good sign. There is little activity on this forum for anything really so again a good sign of MB quality, as I am sure that even with not many of these on the road, people would be very vocal of issues.
You prob need feedback from people on here about handling round corners with the airmatic in sports mode.

That was some of the problems I had with the E Class. I came to the conclusion that the intermittent issues and costs were just not worth it and stayed clear of it for my CLS. Prob is here in the UK the roads are apalling with very few smooth roads away from the motorways. AND WE PAY ALL THAT FUEL TAX.

I just got airmatic problem on my 2012 CLS350. it has just 3800km, approx. 2362miles. Got the "Stop the vehicle - vehicle too low" warning, so i stopped and found out the right front suspension (the driver side, since I live in Indonesia) is extremely low and the left rear suspension is extremely high. After I switch the vehicle off, the both right front and rear suspension is extremely low, while the both left front and rear suspension is extremely high. Just called the dealership and they said that they will pick the vehicle and see what happen. The SA also told me that he never heard any airmatic problem from c218.

2012 CLS550 4MATIC
Again?
2012 CLS550 4MATIC with 12.5K miles. Both rear corners dropping to the stops after 5 hours parked. Started about a week ago. Taking it in to service.
I went through all the ABC issues with my CL55. Total spent was over $8K on that. My understanding is that the CLS is a completely different technology, so we'll see what happens. Car is under warranty though, where the CL wasn't.

CLS550 W218
My W218 CLS550 w 30K airmatic shocks seemed to be a bit soft in normal mode. It seemed to touch the bottom of the chassis whenever going over 6 inches speed bump at 2-3 mph. MB dealer checked and updated the airmatic software module. Is there such thing software update for a shock? I can't seem to find any forum discussing about this issue.
