Opinion - CLS 550 w/ V8 Bi Turbo badging on side??
I saw a black CLS 550 today I look as I am obviously a fan...I have taken off the blue efficiency tag on the sides of mine...I noticed so did this guy but in its place he put the V8 Bi Turbo badge (lettering) Initially before I saw the exhaust I thought it was the CLS63 but it was a 550 like mine...His car looked good and I liked the lettering on the side...But its kind of a poser move...
What are the thoughts about doing this? I know this has been touched before...But unlike most fake out moves on cars...Our is a V8 bi turbo so he is not lying....
Most people will think it is an AMG if you put the badges, but none of those people would be enthusiasts
I was reading a report the a while back where it said a lot of MB owners put AMG badges on their cars (I dont remember the estimated proportion, but I think it was 35-45%, which is a lot if you think about it)
^^^ I don't have an issue with it. The CLS 550 is in fact a twin turbo.
Bi-Turbo = Twin Turbo. If my car comes with those stupid Blue Efficiency badges, I'll do one of two things; remove the stupid badges and/or replace them with Biturbo badging.
Yes, the CLS 63 AMG is the only CLS that comes with Biturbo badging on the sides, OEM from the factory.
Placing an AMG badge on a MB that is not an AMG, is your business.
At the end of the day, it's your car, so do as you please. I could give a rats **** what peeps do or think. Live & let live brother!
Badges are just a preference.. our cars are indeed a v8 twin turbo. As far as putting an AMG badge on a non AMG car.. WHY? Why pose as something your not?

That is sooooo not true. There is no way almost half of MB owners would go out of their way to purchase badges to pose their car as something that it is not.
I would say that it is more like a small percentage (1-2%) and 90% of those posers live in California.
You can add the Bi-Turbo badge if you wish without being called a poser because you do have a V8 bi-Turbo. If you want to pose as an AMG without being an official "AMG poser" then you can add the bi-Turbo badge and de-badge the CLS550. However if you add the 63 or the AMG badge then you are officially posing your car as something that it is not.

I agree if you want it, not posing because it is in fact a bi-turbo engine and also in fact very potent and much better then the stupid blue efficiency badges.

I agree with you. Although it is tough because technically the car is a bi-turbo V8 so its not as if your trying to act like you have something that you don't. I guess it is preference. Now slapping an AMG badge in the back is ridiculous and just stupid.
So I guess I am also a CLS 550 that is interested on purchasing the V8 Biturbo badge and after reading this whole pages I comes to the conclusion that it is not consider a strange thing to do since the car is indeed powered by a V8 Biturbo engine.
How much are the set of two badges by the way?

Another option is to put a single V8BT badge on the passenger-side back trunk lid where other models have engine badges like CDI or 4matic.
I still think it is legit and looks great. I like the idea on the back where AMG would be on those models but it might be too big there. The side is the traditional place for them.
I added it to mine. The original ones really didn't sit well with me. I thought about leaving it without a badge but the V8-Biturbo has a nice subtle addition for me. Like some have said, we really do have a V8 twin under that lovely skirt.
Not a poser thing to do, the AMG badging on the other hand I consider to be.
