Help choosing 19 or 20 wheels for my CLS 550

Hey everyone,
i just upgraded from an E350 (12) to a dark grey CLS 550 (13), it came with the 19" AMG wheels package (below)

I kind of want to change the wheels, to probably either Savini BM1 or BM2

i need some help making up my mind..
1- should i stay with 19" or upgrade to 20".. went to leschwab and discount tires and both said to stay with 19" as i'll feel difference driving the car

2- Any thought about better looking wheels maybe?

thank you for the help.

I would say it depends where you live. If the roads are smooth and well maintained with no potholes then 20s are fine, otherwise you may want to stick with 19s. Plenty of pics on this forum with CLS550 with 20s. Check it out to help your decision.
I would check Vossen and Strasse wheels but I am not sure they are in the same price range.
Congrats on the new ride.

Beautiful color! I actually like the AMG 19's and would keep them personally, but that's just IMHO.

I went with 20's where roads are pretty decent in my area (south Orange County CA), noticed absolutely no ride issues. I usuallly keep the suspension in sport mode also. 19's won't fill the wheel wells as fully, and IMO that extra 1" gap will drive you crazy after a while.

In fact, now I'm selling my wheels on this forum. Here's my pics to get an idea of how it looks on 20's. As you can see, in comfort mode (as pics show) there's an *almost* uncomfortable gap even at 20". 19's would be beyond the point of tolerable gap IMO.

humm, my eyes must be going crazy.. the gap on your 20s looks bigger than the gap on my 19s.. is there a reason for that?

because of the color of my car, i wanna have silver + black (and maybe a bit of chrome) on the rims.. silver alone is meh, and black alone is too dark.. :/

Maybe the airmatic is in raised mode?

I have 18" and i have just had my winter tyres swopped. The tyre guy called me over and showed me that one of my wheels was badly buckled on the inside. I recall a few weeks ago I overtook a van and he pushed me into the side of the road, I hit a pothole with a big thump. I thought it was ok as there was no sign of damage on the outside. I am having the wheel straightened tomorrow. Our roads are getting so bad.

As previous poster said, it's in Comfort airmatic mode. Also, the tires are very thin (25 back & 30 front profile), making the gap way larger than stock rims (stock is 40 profile).

And yeah, I don't think all black would look good on your car. But those silver blacks or all silver (not chrome, but unpolished) may not be too bad.

Agreed with others....it depends on your roads. If I bend any more rims, I'm going back to 19s. It's just not worth replacing wheels every month......it's frustrating and a waste of money.

Only MBs - the best or nothing
Well, if one uses higher sidewall tires - 245/35-20 (doubt 255/35-20 will fit) front and 285/30-20 rear, 20s will present no problems.
