Well, I have been lurking on this forum for quite a few months now, learning as much as I can from all of you good people. I finally did the deed and placed a deposit on a Euro delivery 2014 CLS550 4matic. Hoping to drive it in Germany by August.

So looks like I will continue to be a member of this forum for quite some time into the future.
Looking forward to more exchange of ideas in future.

Yes the illum door sills are a factory fit option in the US.

We can only get that as dealer fit in UK. Do not understand the logic of their options for each market.Originally Posted by OBP

Perhaps the UK dealers get to make more money that way ?Originally Posted by tetra123

Congrats! You'll be glad you took the plunge. Nice assortment of options; I have essentially the same car but different colors. May the wait pass quickly...
So the day finally came - picked her up at Sindelfingen yesterday. Drove about 60 miles or so on day 1 and 2.
First impressions:
Distronic works perfectly - I really like how quickly the system reacts to cars cutting in front of you. And I really believe it can stop the car itself if there is an obstacle and I do not hit the brakes.
There is a real noticeable difference between the Sport and Comfort settings for the Airmatic suspension. And a great difference between the sport and eco settings for the transmission. Can really see myself pushing the car hard in sport setting for the suspension and tranny but I will not do it yet until I've broken the car in.
Eco start stop is mildly irritating but the restart after a stop is almost imperceptible in this car. So I can live with it.
Whatever acceleration I have done ( up to 4000 rpm during this break in period ) has been pretty brisk but like I said, will not be pushing the car hard so I will wait a few hundred miles more before commenting on the full punch of the 4.6 liter twin turbo.
And finally for anyone who ordered illuminated door sills, I just found out that is a Veh Prep Center installed option in the US so it does not come that way from the factory.
More impressions as I drive it around over the next few days weeks.
Overall, happy camper, liking my first experience with the MB brand.
