Lowering 550?

Does anyone know or have a suggestion on the best way to lower the CLS550? I believe it's airmatic all around. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. Anyway, ELM, lowering links, or springs....

Any adverse effect on tire wear with lowering links vs the other 2 options?

As soon as I get a chance I'll post some pictures. I put them on mine as well. With 20's it looks great.

Cool. I was reading in a couple of threads that the Adjustable Air Ride links are of higher quality than the Ghost product. Are the Ghost links stainless steel?

The barrel is aluminum and the ends are rubber.

How is the ride quality? Pretty much any time this question is asked it gets a different answer. Just curious though.

It's not horrible, but it's a little stiffer than before. Then again it's got aftermarket wheels and a lot less rubber than the stock wheels.

I have a set of the adjustable air ride links if you want them. PM me and if you pay for the shipping I'll just send them to you.

I had them on my 2013 and they are simple to install. The pain in the *** is that I swap between summer and winter tires and need to bring the car up a bit for the winter tires. Adjusting them is a pain while on the car.

I swapped it for the Renntech module which you connect a laptop to and control via a simple interface.

While reviving an old thread, I had a question for the guys with personal experience with the lowering links..

How is the overall tire wear after install?

I understand the ride is stiffer, but overall has the ride drastically changed after install of the links? Was hoping it would still have that Mercedes smooth ride to an extent

Any other problems that anyone may have ran into after installing the links?

All replies are greatly appreciated, and Thanks in advance!

I've had the lowering links on now since October & I haven't had any issues with them. The ride is stiffer, but it isn't drastically changed. My mother in law just rode with me a week or so ago & commented on how smooth the ride is. I haven't had a chance to check out the tire wear, but I've been told that the inner tire will wear faster than normal due to the new camber angle. I have another thread up with a few pics with the lowering links on.

Anytime you do something to the suspension, you should always get an alignment done afterword. I was considering using lowering links because my buddy used them in his e550 and I thought it was an inexpensive way to lower the car. His ride was smooth and looked good sitting on a set of 20" Vossen's. I ended up going with the LoMo M1 setup. It cost a ton more, but the ease of use makes up for the price, well at least to me it does.

I bought some different links off Ebay work just fine. Paid 150$

Should look much better when the rims go on. Rides like factory and will raise in Comfort mode. and can get on a lift in raise mode. Best bang for the buck in my opinion! Here is a couple pics

Finally go the new wheels on. Need to adjust the fronts a tad but I fit 20x9.5's up front and the 20x10.5 in rear. Im happy with the concaveness of the fronts bc normally they dont have any on our cars. Let me know your thoughts!
