Thinking about purchasing 2014.. need opnioin.
My local Benz dealer has this on the lot.. CPO. 34K miles http://www.mercedesbenzrochester.com...lj9bb0ea089640
I having been going back and forth with trading in my 2013 Corvette Grandsport convertible with 13k miles. My only concern is the reliability of the CLS. The car would come with a 28 month warranty but after that I'd be on my own.. To add an additional year warranty it would be $2,368, so that is out of the question. In addition, it has 'Max Performance Summer' only tires so I would have to spend another 1K for all seasons by winter time.
My wife has a 2010 C300 with 70k miles and (knock on wood) no issues as of today. I know the opinion on here is a bit biased but would like to know other owners experience with cost of ownership/issues with the CLS.
Thanks in advance. Scott

I was under the assumption that if its certified from benz then you get an extra year limited warranty with unlimited mileage. The only concerns that I have is with the air suspension other wise its a pretty solid vehicle.

I bought a '14 CPO here in Houston about a year ago. No issues whatsoever. I drive it every chance I get. I haven't had any expenses because I purchased the prepaid maintenance package. You won't regret the purchase. Unless you're looking at a CLS63 as well.

That is a good price for that car, as far as reliability, for what is worth, the Mercedes V8 TT is probably one of the more reliable engines out there, its all the electronics I would worry about. Shop around the warranty, I am sure you can find a better price.

I see the discussion with your dealer going a couple of ways: they'll drop the price of the warranty (ELW) to get its sale rolled into your deal and only make $50 or so on it, or you end up buying the ELW elsewhere. The disadvantage of the latter is that you'd need to buy it outright rather than rolling into your loan, assuming you are financing.
I do think that the ELW is worth having. I can only speak from experience on my previous car, a 2010 E550 Coupe; the ELW covered the electrically operated shade that covered the sunroof that tore during operation. That's a $500 part plus labor.
Though you didn't ask, I'm less bought into the prepaid maintenance. I bought it for my E550 before I realized that maintenance is basically oil and brake fluid changes and new filters.
