Build the most powerful cls550 4matic
When i removed my stock pumps to replace them with the AMG pumps i found that my pump was weak and almost dead.
After installing the AMG fuel pump i discovered that AMG fuel pump controller is also needed as the AMG pump is using different three phase motor than the stock 550 pump. After installing the controller (finger crossed) the car will be completed and will report back.
Meanwhile the final mod that i made and the last to ever made on that car was installed (652x450x26mm) intercooler heat exchanger. It works with the stock one also installed and both are more than enough to keep the IAT as low as possible (paired with CWA 100.2 pump) all the time even on many hard accelerations. It's not thick and do not block the main radiator stream.

If your original pump is almost dead, maybe all you need is another original pump ??
Btw, how's the progress ?
I have retrofited the AMG fuel pumps with success. Used the original Fuel pump controller but rearrange the wires to be able to run the pump. No more fuel pressure drops under any load. Will schedule dyno session in the next 10 days to see the final result. The car is very very fast 0-200km/h under 10 sek.

The Best of Mercedes & AMG
My car is complete. The car feature the following:
M157 turbochargers
Intrcooler system upgrade (pump and very big heat exchanger)
1 step Colder Spark plugs
k&N air filters
Custom turbo-back downpipes
3 inch full exhaust
100 cell racing cats
Custom ECU Tune
AMG Fuel pump
AMG front and back calipers/rotors
amg body kit (better for cooling the engine), new Diamond White Pearl
4matic with quaife Limited Slip Differential
Power: 723hp 1222N/m on 93 gas
To have an idea for the result. Yesterday we had dyno session with all our cars: Ml63 amg 2013, CLS63 amg 2013 PP and my cls 500 4matic. The ML63 made 691hp and 1250n/m, CLS63 AMG PP 699hp and 1380n/m (it has full 3 inch exhaust from HMS, carbon ceramic brakes..) and my CLS500 723 and 1222n/m. Same day, same tunner, same dyno.

Is it stock m157 turbo ?
No mod on the m157 turbo ? Just with ECU tune ??
No matter m157 or m278 engine, the turbos are the limit of the engine. With upgraded m157 turbos m278 will go well over 800hp..
I'll wait for Weistec, as I know they are developing the tune for modded m157 turbo, for m278 engines.
Also the 4matic's front axles are on their limit with 1200+ n/m torque as our cars are 45/55 front/back (for example the amg s 4matic is 33/67-percent front-to-rear torque split
The front axles are 1/2 the diameter of the rear...

But as I checked with them, it is in progress.
Like I said, call them and find out.
There are 2 options for me.
1. Just install stock m157 turbo on, and do a ECU tune, like what OP did.
2. Wait till Weistec finish their project (They said around Mid December 2016). But I have a feeling, there will be a lot of things needs to be upgraded at same time.

Might be cheaper this way than having turbo modded.
Turbo modded = lot more thing might also need upgrades, such as transmission and axles.
I do have a question about the fuel pump.
Was your original fuel pump nearly dead ? or does it really need an AMG pump in order to supply enough fuel to the engine ? (The tune need more fuel ?)
Someone told me original fuel pump should be sufficient. Thats why I am asking.
