This is AWESOME! Do you know what boost you're making or have a log with the dyno? Did you have to change out the MAP sensors for more boost?

Hello, The boost is 2.5 bar (absolute pressure) and this is the limit of the map sensor. For DD the car is great.

Holy hell your getting 36 pounds out of those turbos?? or just the map sensors are 2.5 bar?

If at sea level that would be around 22 pounds of boost from the m157 setup if higher elevation than slightly higher boost as the map sensor has to account for both atmospheric pressure as well as actual turbo boost beyond that. I believe that is still roughly double of what the M278 turbos can put out, which is impressive.

Hello,

I have successfully installed the Aquamist HFS4 water/meth injection as well as two oil coolers on both left and right side of the front bumper. The Meth is the best upgrade power/cost that i have installed. The timing is advanced as much as possible, no knocking and the power is close to 800hp crank. Will dyno the car next year. Just for information 100-200 is about ~6 sec. Compared to my CLS63 amg PP that is 700 hp it's ~ 6.8 sec

Thank you for your request. Yes i'll share all the parts needed when i have more time. Some parts are required some not (there was no info as this is the first build m278)

Here are some pictures of my cooling setup including the two oil coolers at the front and the Meth in the trunk (pictures taken while installation in progress).








The bottom line: I have invested ~17-20k USD in the build. If i build it again will go under 13-14k as some parts are not required (same as the m278 engine). The most expensive are the M157 turbochargers that you can get as low as 4-5k second hand (they need to be less than 30k miles) and new up to 10k, ECU tuning about 2-3k (few sessions included), intercooler system upgrade 1.5k, Aquamist hfs4 1k, oil cooler upgrade (not needed if your engine is equiped with oil cooler from the factory) 1k including the oil lines and AN10 hoses and AN10 fittings, Exhaust system, full dual 3 inch from the turbochargers to the mufflers 4-7k. Turbo-back downpipes are required (for example my cls63 fell off a cliff after 5.8k rpm -100hp till redline due to restricted flow of the stock turbo-back downpipes), Quaife LSD 1.5k, AMG front and back brakes (required!!) 3k. Labor for engine removal (turbocharges installation) 380 USD here in Bulgaria LOL.. All other installations except the ECU tune are performed by me including the build of the exhaust, downpipes (including 3d printing and 3d design), meth installation, cooler installations etc..

Overall i preffer this car over any rear wheel drive 700hp+ AMG

Will check for the ECU tune and will let you know.

So, the Quaife LSD can be installed without any tweaks ?
Is it the Qualife AMG LSD you installed ?
And what year is this CLS550 ?

The car is 4matic with Quaife LSD installed on the rear and now it's blasting off the line. The best was 2.9sec 0-100 km/h

You can install LSD on 4matic with zero problems with traction control. The car is much more stable and predictable. Also you put all the power to the ground.

This car is 2013 EU version with all possible options included. Including carbon fiber trim same as cls63 amg that was optional when ordering the car (i think it's not available in any other 550 series)

I should be able to just bolt on these turbos on my M278 engine.
I will also need new gasket and copper nuts.
Is that correct ?

Who tuned your ECU ?
Would I be able to jsut have the same file into my ECU to get close result ?

Yes you need only the turbocharger manifold gaskets and the copper nuts. All oil and water lines will fit right away to the new turbochargers. Expect 680-700+ hp with just the turbo swap and ecu tune.

Yea, that is exactly one of the person who had done this project few years back said the same thing.
He told me, it achieved 600WHP.

Is yours WHP ? or to the crank ?

The power on the wheels was 650 AWHP before the meth injection. Now is close to 700 at the wheels (will dyno the car in the upcoming month due to the bad weather)

Looks great! I miss my column shifter so much.. The AMG shifter on the console and leaving everything else the same was a mistake. When you put a cup or two in the cup holder you cant even get to the temp buttons or anything under the volume for that matter! This is a perfect setup AMG power (and more) with the simple things of the 550. Oh and also the adjustable ride height I miss with the 550

Yes, this is the correct part. The difference in big and car is completely different when you floor it. Also when overtaking and accelerations in corners it just go. In snow is even better.

Hey cocobeex did you get the turbos swapped? If so how did it go and what was required? I could tolerate more pwr in the 14 E550 cab - just exploring options now.
