Tgey are telling me my command module has gone out. It that separate from the unit with the slot and buttons or is that the command module? If the command module is bad where would it be? If I have to replace the unit I wonder if I can put in the 4.7
The comand module would be the head unit, what are the symptoms? sometimes its just the screen that goes bad. Probably not worth upgrading from 4.5 to 4.7 because there is not a huge difference and its not plug and play, would have to change out the wiring harness among other things that I cant remember off the top of my head. If you do the retrofit, way better to go straight to ntg5.1.
it didn't have any issues except it would cut off sometimes if just sitting and listening to the unit when using power mode ( not while the car was running). I took it in and they said it had all different kinds of codes and when they went to reprogram the unit they said it went totally out. If I have to replace the unit. Why should I just upgrade?
Because upgrading is much more expensive and more labor intensive plus if this is the dealer they probably won't do it since the upgrade is not an official procedure but something a 3rd party would do. By the way if it wasn't completely broken when you turned the car in then as far as I am concerned they are the ones who broke it by reprogramming it. Also the unit will automatically turn off if the battery reaches a certain voltage level, so the low battery could have been the issue especially if everything was fine when the car was running. I would of asked to see the codes that they pulled.

when I took it in it was fine but my lane keep assist shut off but restated when I restated the car and I had no issues except for the radio cutting out but not when running. I just bought the car and they said they went to update the software and it **** down completely. Now no systems at all . They did screw the car I told them of the issues when I bought the car. Now they don't want to stand behind their word, even if the salesman told them that's what they said. The GM says they will only go by the contract. They want me to buy an extended warranty to pay for the repairs.

As for their diagnostic software it is usually very specific to what the issue is and the car will store the codes even if the component starts to work later. 7,800 just for the head unit and another 2,500 for the front struts with 20k plus miles. It got cold here and you would have thought I had strings with cans attached to them. The noise finally went away as the gas in the struts expanded. As for the warranty I can obtain it for 3,500.00 4 years 50k miles from Hyundai. That's where I picked up this beautiful POS. The irritant is they even admitted we spoke about the issues but since it wasn't in the contract and they told me they would warranty the car for 3k 3,500 miles but they won't honor it even when I have the sales manger and the salesman that have admitted such. The general manage is stating it wasn't in the contract. He might be right but I might take them to court anyway. I'm angry because I bought new AMG wheels, new tires, a wood and leather AMG flat bottom steering wheel and a leather wrapped drivers air bag. If this hadn't been a Designo I would have made them take it back. 11k and I haven't driven it 60 miles. For me it's about principle and being honest. I'm not sure how to deal with it at this point.

If I bought a benz from a non benz dealership I would get a 3rd party warranty and exclusively use a benz dealer or a really good independent shop. At this point your best choices right now is buy a used unit for 1k and have a shop that knows what they are doing install it, or consider getting a comprehensive 3rd party warranty ranging for $3-5k and depending on your mileage it can also cover over 50k or 4years. If you have any family prior military, USAA offers one of the best warranties.

The dealer owns MB, Infinity and Hyundai. It's the best warranty you can buy, even better than MB would offer. I'll just take it up the backside and get it fixed. I'll have the warranty for later problems, that I'm sure will arise. I see they have already replaced the unit in 15. So, I'm sure it will continue to give me pains. I actually don't know any military people, so that won't work but thanks for the advice.
