AMG exhaust tips on regular CLS?

Does anyone know if it is it a direct swap to put the quad CLS63 tips on a regular CLS550?

Nevermind, I think you need to replace the rear diffuser. Are there any aftermarket quad tips that look similar that would be an easy Swap?

AMG double square tips can be installed no problem you will just need to cut and trim the diffuser a little. It tool me 30 minutes to did it with dremel tool. I finished it off with sandpaper and painted everything with plastidip. I figured out that if wont like it new replacement part is only $200 of ebay and easly turn it back to stock.

As for tips I didn't want to clone AMG look so I got those tips from ebay as well. They are very good quality and fit well.

I don't know about those tips... they look cheap on a nice car like that!

The AMG square ones are better I think. You can get that exact style without the "AMG" lettering on top of that's your concern

No offense, I am not a fan of that setup either. The tips look too square and doesn't line up very well. If you are going with quad tips then get the diffuser.

Check these out.

Those will not fit his bumper though!

A diffuser would maybe complete that look overall. The stock diffuser isnt agressive enough for quads i believe. Theres a few replica diffusers on ebay for rentech and other popular brands. I would take a look

I know it won't fit. You have to complete the look with the diffuser. Yea, there are a few on ebay, one of the carbons would go nicely. They all look like cheap Chinese stuff though probably won't last very long.

Definetely not true!!! Most carbon parts and replicas come from China and Taiwan and they perform just as good if not better than brand names! I have had replica Vorsteiner and Brabus on my previous cars and their fit has been perfect and have held up for years!
My buddy bought an OEM spoiler for his X6M Vorsteiner brand and guess what... figment sucked and he paid 1600 for it! My rep was 260 and was a perfect fit.

My point is go for it, you won't regret it. The industry is so big that everyone wants a piece

Thanks. I agree that EBay stuff from Asia is just as good as name brand stuff. It’s all made in the same place most likely.

Is is there a particular diffuser I should consider though? It seems like there’s a ton of options on eBay. I’m not looking for a carbon fibre diffuser necessarily, just something that looks stock.

Good to know. The ebay stuff is cheap enough anyway if it doesn't work out no big deal.

I personally bought the rentech lookalike which is more aggressive than stock! Modecarbon makes one and its as close to stock as it gets but a little pricey! Their quality and fitment is awesome though so definitely worth it

You can't purchase the AMG OEM tips alone...they are part of the muffler. Each unit will set you back around $1600-$1800 if i remember correctly. Take a look at the replica AMG quad tips on ebay. They look identical to the real deal at a fraction of the cost. Just take them to any good muffler shop and have them welded on for around $150. At the end of the day they are just tips.

You can't use those on the CLS550, The 550 has a larger oval muffler. Look for those with the single oval opening like I posted earlier.

Any good muffler shop will make those work without any problems, the problem is the stock diffuser, AMG tips are much larger than OEM cls550 tips. You can either way buy CLS63 diffuser one from dealership for around $350 (bolt on) or get aftermarket diffuser. Th thing is that most of the aftermarket diffusers look ridiculously aggressive and at the end of the day you are imitating CLS63 with for my taste is tacky.

My experience with those tips even though they look very nice have been negative! Maybe I got a bad batch but there is small spots of rust on them on the top. I have tried to keep them waxed and clean but with the New England weather no luck.
I suggest for anyone who gets these to either paint them or coat them with something before welding them on. I can take some pic on my c class if anyone wants to see

I think I've seen a similar pair of exhaust tips on ebay however the inlet pipe is in the middle but it's not an oval shape. My S class had the inlet pipe in the middle as well if im not mistaken. Has anyone confirmed?

Mercedes CLS400
Hi Virtual Rain, I recently did a successful conversion on my CLS 400 stocks tips to the AMG 63 quad tip and it looks absolutely gorgeous. You are correct, the stock diffusers on the 400 & 550 are not designed to House the AMG quad tips, so a conversion will be required unless you want to cosmetically mod the stock diffuser. I purchased a carbon fiber diffuser which matches my carbon fiber side skirts, carbon fiber roof wrap, and carbon fiber wrapped front spoiler. The car looks truly gorgeous and keeps the same Mercedes class, the MB service reps go goo goo for the car when I bring it in for maintenance request. Although I had a performance shop locate the AMG tips for me, you can find many replica on eBay that look identical. And even though the exhaust hole on our mufflers are larger than the pipes on the exhaust tips you locate, an experience muffler shop will be able do a flawless job for about $250

CLS63 C218 exhaust tips are a part of muffler, but if you are looking for OEM parts, then ML63 tips (A1664901527 & A1664901627) can be purchased. Pretty expensive ~ 600 EUR for a pair, but brand new genuine & OEM parts.
If anyone interested, we also offer conversion facelift (exterior parts to make 2011-2014 car look like 2015-2017) and CLS63 kits as well, all parts genuine and new Mercedes parts. More kit info can be found here.

Thanks. I’ve been browsing eBay and there appear to be a bunch of options but nothing that seems like a clear choice. There are lots of vendors selling tips and different vendors selling diffusers, but strangely I could not find any complete kits. And all the diffusers seem designed for the CLS63 AMG as they all have a slot in the middle for the brake light or reflector or whatever that is? What does yours have there?

As for tips, I understand the CLS63 tips are part of the muffler, whereas tips on our cars are separate and just hang from the diffuser. You can find tips that will need to be welded to the tail pipe and tips that hang from a diffuser, but it’s not clear if any of the diffusers support the hanging style tips.

I dont think any of the Ebay vendors really get the differences. It’s a confusing mess and I think anyone trying to buy off eBay is taking a risk.

Theres a real missed opportunity for someone to offer a proper diffuser and tip set that simply replaces the stock diffuser and tips without welding.

Has anyone done anything like this recently. I'm still interested, but buying tips and a diffuser is confusing AF on eBay.

Thought I'd be the first to do it, but ya beat me!

Any pics how they are attached underneath?

that looks great and it looks like you got them in there with the stock diffuser. Did you have to do any modifications to the diffuser to get them to fit ?
