WAKE UP MY DUDES!!!
Hey guys! Long time member, had a 2011 W212 E550, and recently just picked up a 2014 CLS550 in steel grey with 17k On the clock! While I loved the E550, it was getting out of warranty, and some minor gremlins were starting to pop up. Traded it in on the aforementioned CLS, and my god I've fallen in love again! The TTv8 is miles ahead of the old 5.5 N/A v8, and the tune-ability just makes my mouth water! Was kinda bummed that there were no 2015-16 CLS550s near me, because the Facelift just looks stunning, but W/E, beggars can't be choosers lol! Already got the car tinted, got some wheels on the way, and was hoping to order an exhaust and hook it up!
On a side note, why is this forum so quiet lmao the w212 forum was and still is loud as hell! Wake up guys lol!!!

the other thing I've noticed is that we don't seem to have a ton of problems with our cars. It's like the perfect benz. Timeless styling too.

My last car was a completely different animal - 2012 MB ML350 SUV. I buy new cars when the warranty of the last runs out so four years later I purchased a 2017 CLS 550. Because these cars are so different there is no need to compare but I must say, as much as I enjoyed my ML350, the CLS puts a bigger smile on my face every time I start it up and take it for a spin on these back country roads where I live. It is a fun car in every sense of the word. Since it is just the lady and I, I don't need much room or even a back seat so the CLS is perfect size wise, although a family might find it a bit uncomfortable. The monster V8 is now a thing of the past so I am happy to have that 278 engine without having to go to AMG like I would have to in 2019. Enjoy your ride and be proud because you just bought one of the last true "niche" cars in the MB lineup.

I have a 2014 E550 Coupe and my wife has a 2013 CLS550. I much prefer the CLS and kind of wish I had bought one of those instead of the E550 Coupe.
CLS is a fantastic car. Congrats!
I'm eagerly awaiting the 2019 CLS53. Every time I option up an E-class sedan I'm at $75-78k which is firmly in CLS territory. The fact that the new CLS is a 5 seater and looks stunning inside and out just makes me want it more. Can't wait to drive it with that new straight 6 engine too.

Maybe it will grow on me though.
Or maybe I'm jealous, lol.
We will see.. I bet when I see one on the street I will be pretty impressed with it I'm lucky where I live I never see a CLS anywhere. I only know of one that I see on occasion.

The question is, do I dare buy a first model year Mercedes? I know, most of the tech is already in the current E and S class but that drivetrain is all new.

Well... It definitely looks sexy there..
Im sure I'll like it when I see one in person.
I don't plan on ever having more than 1 passenger in my cls.
But I could see the extra seat being helpful.
I wish they would have just kept the side detail and maybe updated.
we can look back on this conversation in about a year-and-a-half and I'll probably be looking for the new one LOL

I really like the look of new CLS and the interior is really nice but I don't like that they've changed it to seat 5. I like the whole center console in the back. If you want to seat 5 people, buy an E-Class IMO.
I also don't like the fact that it's a straight 6. I know it's the way everything is going, but hybrid 6 cylinder doesn't really scream 'luxury' to me, especially when you're spending close to $100k. It just doesn't seem to fit with the rest of the car. The AMG53 'only' creates 430bhp too, which isn't much more than the current CLS550.
Hopefully it'll keep the price of our cars up if people are still wanting the V8s.
