Now that these cars are more affordable... what does everyone think of the average age of drivers for our model?

I went back and forth from Range Rover to Toyota. One was awesome but completely unreliable. The other just worked. But my last Toyota, ran but honestly was PITA and dealing with Toyota corporate was pretty annoying.
I would have gotten a Lexus RC F or LC F if my experience was better. I drove the RC F and CLS 550 back to back and went with the CLS.

interesting. Did you like Infiniti and what made you take the jump.

But being in my 30s, I decided that I wanted something with more a luxury status and keep the sportiness. So the CLS was the one I’ve eyed for years. And here we are.

My first Benz was at 16, a w212 E350, that's what got me hooked into Mercedes.
3 year later I got quite possibly my favorite car to date, an E550, the 5.5 in that car was a gem!
Then last year at 23 I bought my CLS550, hell of a car, but still miss my E class, m278 is hella dope tho!

2013 CLS550 4Matic OE Tuned
OK, not to burst all of you young guys bubble, but I'm 75 and really enjoying my CLS550. My previous car was a Cadillac CTS Sportwagon. I loved it but they (CTS) started having mechanical problems, so I cut to the chase and found this wonderful car. Bob2011 and I have had our cars tuned by OETuning and I can say that it's a different car now. Loving all the power and it's still very streetable. Marv

I was considering tuning mine as well but my car only has 8,320 miles warranty until 120,000 or 5 more years from today’s date I don’t want to risk it at this time.
Anyways thanks for sharing sir

The great thing about OETuning is that they use a handheld OBDII reader (MyGenius) that lets you change tunes in about 10 minutes. Need to go to the dealer for warranty service, just change back to the Mercedes factory tune. It's invisible to the dealership. I understand your qualms about tuning, but my car is now a monster. My 2013 only has 25K on it now and is CPO, I'll purchase another 2 years in February. Marv

Is that true?

Marv is correct, if flashed back to stock, the tune cannot be traced. In fact I think if you even leave the tune on the car for any kind of routine service, 99.9 percent you'll be fine, however it's best to flash back to stock.

My previous car was a 2012 ML350 suv. Loved that car but wanted something more sporty one last time in my life so I bought a new 2017 CLS550. I will be 72 in a couple weeks and this may be my last "sport" car. It certainly is a beast and I shudder to think what the AMG model would be like. But this is all an old man like me can handle right now. Next year I might get an E class or perhaps another CLS but I know it won't have that amazing V8 278 motor that makes my car what it is. I hate to think they put a V6 in the new model but hopefully it will be nearly as potent as what I have now.

Welcome to another "old-timer" shortspark! The new CLS is a straight 6, not a V6, but it's not like the M278 engine! My next CLS will be a newer one with the M278 engine (2018 and older). Hope you're enjoying your ride like me! Age is only a number!

Okay Shotime, I am going to have to give you some words of wisdom. Simply put, you are too young to have a car like the CLS550. Such a magnificent work of art can only truly be appreciated by those of us who have lived a full life time, those who have suffered mental anguish and physical hurt. You have not yet paid your dues to deserve such a car. The fact you can afford it is not the issue, money is not the issue, it is a matter of respect. Only those of us who have taken all life can throw out deserve a car like this. You still have a few years to go to gain that important experience. When I read of 30 year olds buying this car I wonder what they have to look forward to? An S550 before the age of 40? Then what? What else is there to look forward to? To those that say we may not make it to old age so lets enjoy it all now I say you are being too pessimistic about life in general, let alone what car you should drive when. So take your time, learn what the experiences are all about and leave cars like these to us old guys!!

Whats next? When my kids get a little older I’m going back to a coupe... perhaps a C63S or M4 or shoot even the new C8 corvette.
But maybe when I get into my 70s I’ll be in a S63 🤔

43 here. Got it when I turned 40. Nicest car I’ve owned. Planning a tune this year if I don’t get a cls63 first. Although shortspark just made me feel like I don’t deserve this yet . One of the best posts I have ever read. When I am in my 70s I will be just like Marv and And Shortspark. I agree, age is just a number and I’m never growing up.

Glad you all got a chuckle. It was tongue in cheek of course. In fact, the opposite of what I wrote is true. If I had to do it all over again I would have bought this great car many years ago when they first came out. Back then the CLS created a new benchmark for the auto industry, the four door "coup" and in my opinion it remains the definitive example of this breed of car even to this day. I should not have waited until I was close to 70. When I was younger I had better reflexes, better eyesight - better everything and I could have run this car like it deserves to be run. Now, no longer in possession of these attributes, I get a little scared and have to hold back a bit. I envy you "youngsters" in your CLS550s - Enjoy!!
