Active Blind Spot Assist Inoperative

I’m getting the Active Blind Spot Inoperative Message and the triangles in the mirror are solid Yellow. Initially, it was sporadic and would recover but now the active blind spot is fully inoperative.

I’ve read all of the past and recent posts about the sensor failures and/or corroded contacts. What I don’t want to do is troubleshoot all of the sensors so am hoping to narrow it down to the most likely culprit so my questions to the group are as follows:

Are there any sensors other than those I see in the bumpers? Anything on the sides?

I don’t believe this issue throws any codes so is there a way to conclusively determine which sensor is inoperative?

TIA

I can't answer any of your questions but I have noticed the same thing. It happens so infrequently however, that I will wait until my next scheduled maintenance to mention it to the dealer.

Shotime,

My 2013 was spec'd without bumper sensors but it does have Active blind spot assist.
So the sensors must be in the mirrors. Just my 2 cents worth. Marv

Great suggestion Marv! I never had occasion to look at the bottom of my mirrors so upon looking today I did indeed see what appears to be a sensor of some sort. Now to figure out how to diagnose and repair.

Any literature available Konigstiger?

that happens to my car sporadically as well it hasn’t happened recently but does happen occasionally. I’m also have a problem with the parking sensors sometimes going off and on. I’m hoping when I change the battery it will solve issue.

233 Distronic plus
235 Active park assist
237 Active blind spot assist
238 Active lane keeping assist

Nothing in outside mirrors. Here are all sensors. Find an independent to pull codes using MB diagnostics, reluctant to do so most common malfunction, rear bumper sensors.

Konigstiger,
You are a great resource and provide a multitude of information to the forum members. We all appreciate your help.
My 2013 CLS550 is equipped with 997 Driver assistance package which includes 233, 237 & 238. It does NOT have parking
sensors, however, I'm wondering how it works if it doesn't have the parking sensors (front or rear).

Thanks, Marv

What might the cause be for their intermittent operation?

My 2014 had the same prob. Issue was ‘corroded connections‘ in the rear bumper they said. Covered under extended warranty, thank goodness.

Must be corroded contacts and not a failed sensor because my issue has resolved itself for now...

Can corroded contacts not be cleaned, as an alternative to replacing the entire sensor? Seems to me that it's worth a try, especially in light of the cost savings and the apparent supply problem with the part.

Certainly worth a try. Many work by just unplugging a few times will clean them enough for good contact. I've experienced this with stereos. Marv
