Tcu reset ?

Forgive my ignorance, Have any of you did a tcu reset when you bought your used or cpo? I have one of my reps just bought an e300 and he was telling me I should do that. Funny I never read anything about that in the c218. Is this something I should do ?

I think it's something you should do. I've known about it for a couple of months but just haven't had time to do it. They say you should drive for 15 minutes after you do the TCU reset so the transmission can learn how you drive. When I'm in sport and I'm not really driving aggressively, I've seen the trans go to 6th gear at 55kph and 7th at about 70kph. Maybe I should do the TCU reset, and drive aggressively for 15 minutes so it knows to not change gears so quickly in S mode.

It would be cool if the transmission learns how you drive in each mode though, but I doubt that.

You have a TCU tune, right? I'm not sure about that then tbh. If it's an ECU reset then it should not affect it.

I just have an ecu tune no tcu tune yet. I did the reset and I’m shocked at how smoother my transmission shifts. Now I only did a few pulls with my dragy and I was slow af. (4.45 0-60 4.20 0-60 ) I’m going to get out and test it again here soon. The transmission is literally shifting like a brand new car. Now if I can get my 0-60 back to 3.9 the. It was worth it lol

Did you drive around for 15 minutes afterwards so it can learn your driving habits? Did you drive aggressively or economically/how is sport mode shifting?

I drove for about 30 minutes and was hitting it pretty aggressively and let me tell you when I punched it before I would get an sort of hiccup in the shift. I was really mad about it and now it’s smoother than ever I can’t believe how smooth the shifting is after I did that, I’m actually shocked. Unfortunately I’m selling the car now. I’ve made the decision to get something newer with a warranty

S550 16-18 hopefully a CPO and I am going test drive a 2018 CPO Audi S7 4.0 this week and I would also like to test drive an Audi S6 4.0 I love the interior of the S class as far as the dash and the Audi interior is gorgeous especially the seats both twin turbo v8s with updated interior and warranty. So we will see what I can find out there. I just traded in the Escalade for my wife and got her a 18 Q7 3.0 prestige and that car drives amazing and is so comfortable, so that’s why I figured I would at least test drive.
