2014 CLS550 Thinking Renntech Stage 2. Worth It?

I have a 2014 CLS550 4Matic. I am thinking about a Renntech Stage 2. Also thinking on Eurocharged, Weistec and Pressertech. Everybody is cheaper than Renntech but hate to remove and send out ECU. By the time I pay for overnight charges back and forth the price gets closer to Renntech.

I love my car...favorite car ever. I would appreciate any guidance on which one and is it worth $2500. Not interested in tracking just want to open it up once in while and leave smartass Corvettes in the rear view mirror hehe

Not sure about Weistec and Pressertech by Eurocharged ships you a handheld so you can do everything from home. There are people here with stage 2 tunes on their 550 and it's definitely worth it. You'll be wondering why you didn't do this on day 1. The 550's engine tuning potential is insane with that 4.7L biturbo.

Thanks bro...a little nervous about the 2.5K. But if it delivers it will be money well spent.

I know that stage 2 from Eurocharged is $1799, but you'd have to ask them if you need downpipes or if it could be done on a stock setup. Keep in mind that they do discount the price if you ask them, I think you could get it to $1499.

I know little about the alternatives, but the '13 CLS550 I bought last year with the Weistec 540/715 tune has been a joy. Outside of a Quaife limited-slip differential, the car is stock. Especially in the first two gears, it absolutely needs the limited-slip - it's a beast.

I’m starting to sell my tune for the m278. $250 plus hptuners cost for stage 2 plus free updates to my latest tune.

mine is more focused on drivability and it is better then stock in smoothness and better than oe at speed. Feel free to join facebook.com/groups/tunedmercedes to see some of the discussion there — lots of m278 owners.

if you wanted to go with a big company id reach out to jake at eurocharged on here. They offer a warranty where I and others don’t.

tcu tuning i’d use morendi for $750. Instagram.com/morendi

I would 100% recommend being able to go back to stock tune on mygenius or hptuners.

Went with weistec because I bought the anti surge cable and charge pipe and will eventually go meth kit which bolts right on. Also have the hht through weistec and it is a breeze to change back and forth from stock to tuned and vice versa literally less than 5 minutes. Weistec customer service and tech support are on point. Nothing but great things about weistec. Also I have 3 dps from turbo to muffler so I went with the aggressive stage 2, I didn’t see an option for stage two for renntech and plus you gotta ship ecu. I am taking my car to renntech this summer for a trans upgrade and a ic upgrade.

I don't know if anyone recommended the diff change, but the former owner said he conferred with his MB dealership service advisor before choosing the Weistec tune and doing the differential.

does your quaife limited slip diff, allow you to do donuts without traction breaking off and do burnouts?

At a recent car show the folks from one of the big tuners was there (I forget what one, I have a card). GREAT guys. We have the 4.7 in our GLS, the 5.5 in the E and....the 3.0 (Diesel) is the one we are going to tune (as a note, changed the oil over the weekend...I wish the other Mercedes in my fleet were this easy....).

The sales rep (very nice German guy) was quite open that we could tune the E or GLS...and yes, "things will break more often with more power". He had a list...tires, change plugs more often...he even mentioned scoring the internals if the oil was not "always fresh and topped off". He left no question about the fact that a tune will always create a higher total cost of ownership...not including the price of the tune.

And, we are still going to tune the van so maybe just maybe it can get out of its own way in the mountains.....

This was the show https://festivalsofspeed.com/
