Upgrading the brakes for this good old CLS350 shooting brake.
Stock 4 pot front brakes were complete wear out after all these years, wanted to keep things genuine for this car that why genuine brakes originally from CLS63 was upgraded.
Original brake color was red as you know but it was then repainted in brush copper(YR532M).
Brakes fitted directly onto the car without modification needed and the best thing is it fits in these stock 19 inch AMG wheels.
The overall effect is really nice and tidy.
Shoulda kept them red imo. I was going to do this retrofit last year as I needed all 4 rotors and pads. I had found C63S rotors/calipers/pads for a good deal, but heard I couldn't use those because the car was RWD, and there's some sort of difference for 4Matic vehicle braking systems..
can you tell me if the caliper bolts were the same i thought the 550 had m10 and cls63 had m12 to fasten the calipers to the spindles. ? were they the same or did you drill them out or get adapters made?
I have the same calipers, fits ok, but i have a discs from CLS 63 amg, and they wont fit, maybe you could say what is the part number of 360mm discs? 350cdi Diesel also, and what about Brake disc protection? the old ones are to small to fit the caliper, did you removed them ? if yes did you fitted the bigger ones?
