CLS Brakedown Update

If anyone didnt see my post yesterday its a few down "Mercedes is worst car ever" Anyways, heres a quick update. Im just laying down for my afternoon nap, get all comfortable and throw on the HD. As Im drifting off into lala land, my service manager calls me and tells me that they want to replace the entire transmission of the vehicle. Now mind you, the car is 1.5 weeks old and 400 miles on it! He was like I think you need to call your salesguy up and see what they want to do about this situation. Now MB + My dealership due to many problems with my 2004 e500 and topped off with a case of brake failure which essentially led them to buying back that vehicle and swapping it out for this CLS500. Now once again, I really am not wanting a car thats a week old with less than 500 miles and there telling me its 18k for the transmission job; lol can that be accurate? Anyone got a price on a new cls500 transmission? Now what would you do if after a year of problems with the e500; lets not forget they had my car at there service center for like 3 months as I paid out 800+ and drove around in a c230. Now they make good and replace the car, and a week later that car falls apart on you. They tell me there meeting with corporate tomorrow and don't foresee a problem with having the car replaced; although these people lie through there teeth so I'm not holding my breathe.

I cannot tell you how upset I am about this. Here I thought I could slide into a CLS when ready and now the same quality crap surfaces. IMO there shouldn’t be a problem in your getting a replacement – not with your history. Also, demand to know exactly what went wrong and if MBUSA is, in fact, doing anything to correct it. If I can be of any assistance, don’t hesitate to PM.

Oh, one more thing. With your luck in cars, maybe it’s time to see a priest. In Italian it’s called mal occhio (evil eye).

Who cares, I care. I care that a 75k+ car within 500 miles and 1 week of driving needs 20k dollars in repairs. They just swapped cars becuase I had so many problems with my e500. I care about paying 1100 a month and driving around in a c230 for however long it takes them to repair the car. I care that this is a car that now I cannot purchase or resell. This is totally unacceptable for a car of this magnitude, there's no way it should fail like this. I swore I would never get another MB after my 04 w211 and after being talked into by my dealership this is really a kick in the ***. I got out of a w211 becuase of problems to what, get back into another headache. Before you make stupid *** comments, why dont you read my other 200 posts and see why to me personally it matters. Konstinger, I'll be sending you a PM in the morning.

you sound like one of the retards that works for the dealer. thats MB's famous words, "oh dont worry, its covered under warranty". they tend to forget all of the inconveniences involved and the fact that you are paying top dollar to roll in a c class

i'd get them to either replace the car if your willing to give benz a third try to just get your money back and get a different car. how did u like the CLS when it worked?

ps. should'nt they reimburse you for your car payment while its at the shop for such an extended period of time

I mean Im A total MB enthusiast, and absolutely love there cars and the status symbol they ooze as your on the road. However reliability it seems in the past few years has taken a total downfall. I love the CLS and feel its a great looking car and drives wonderful, much better than my w211. You would think they would reimburse me for the difference or my payment, however I guess they feel a c230 is equivalent to my cls500 or e500. In any event I will not be going through this again, tomorow when I go down there it will either be a new CLS or a loaner CLS until they figure out whats gonna go down.

Now there trying to tell me that they will have a new, not rebuilt transmission in the shop on Monday morning and there supposedly some special techs coming in to replace the transmission. Im at such a loss for words at this point, Im thinking of just contacting a lawyer and getting all my money back and just leaving mb all together.

How can you love MBs when they have failed you twice? Try driving a C230 for three weeks when your CL or SL600 is repeatedly in for repairs. Personally, I've purchased my last mercedes.

i think what he is saying is that he loves the design, the prestige and all that, just not the quality. if youve read and followed fazooleys story with his lemon e500 you would know that he DID ride around in a c230 for over a month

That is too bad, sorry to hear about your terrible luck with MB. Mine has been less than stellar quality wise, but mostly little annoything things.

I was really excited about the CLS. and MB in general, claiming to have cleaned up the QC. Too bad.

If its any consequence, my M3 was out of commission for almost 2 months, as they had to replace the SMG tranny (28K). They broke the first one they got in 1 week, and went to reorder another, and there were none left in the world.. had to wait 4 weeks for one to be built from Getrag... I should have lemoned the car, but oh well. Sold it and lost about 1.5K.

Good luck with the CLS - hope it all works out in the end.
