22 inch on CLS!?

Glad to have found a forum just for this car. Just purchased the CLS 500 OBlack/Black a few days ago and looking for wheels. Currently the Car is on the "AMG" package (sport) but I'm looking for 22" wheels.. The look Im going for is

Looking at HRE 940's, Anyone know if they would fit?
HRE 940

If the Ride quality is bad I'm prob going to end up getting the HRE 840R . A few other options I'm looking at right now is adding the read AMG lip once MB releases to dealers next month.

The 940s are nice - how much do they run?

i dont think youll get 22s on a CLS. 21s really push it, but can be done. there is a picture in this forum, one on Dazzs site and one on GFGs site with a CLS on 21s, and they look a little too big IMO. i think u should go with any of the 940s series, i almost did the same, i did some mock ups of the 943s on a CLS in this forum but they werent chrome, id do chrome for sure. i also plan on adding the AMG rear deck lid, MBenzNL in this forum can get them out sooner i believe. Regardless if u go with a 940 or an 840 in the same size, the ride quality degradation would be about the same, but the 940 series are really meant for luxury cars so probably a better fitment to look at. i put 20s on and lowered my CLS. the ride has barely been sacrificed if any, although i prefer a more responsive ride, but it still rides smooth too!

Please don't put 22's on this car - I'm telling you right now it's gonna look like a 4x4 - may as well get a 7 series or a an H3 if you wanna go that route - the one with 21's on here were way too big IMO and 22's are just gonna look silly and stupid. Just my opinion, but if you do it, I hope what I picture is wrong.

IMO 22" is overdone. 20" is as big as I'll go for CLS!

Cheers,

1st off Thanks for everyone's input. I'm working on mock-up of the 945 and 948 (not big fan of the 943) and i've been split between the 20 - 22 but after speaking to a few people and looking at the reactions here I'm leaning towards the 20's.

BTW how much have you lowed the your CLS and with the AIRMATIC are there any special equipment needed?

22'S Will not fit on Cls. I am currently running 21" Lorinsers and I had to make some small mods. You can find the pic of the 21's here

I lowered my CLS via Star Diag. system. You need to find somone have this machine and they will plug it to your car, under the sterering coloum, and in front of your eye the car will lower little by little to the point that you want. It cannot go too low and if you go too low and out of MB spec then you have to raise it to the point that you can able to save the setting to the system. I have mine lower about 1" in rear and 1.25 in front. But at the end since I have only 18" AMG and I feel the rear gap too small compare to the front gap therefore I end up raiseing the rear little bit and I'm very happy with the result now. I have this done by MBenzNL Scorchile here in Bay area.

Thanks,
hlkc

21s look way too big for CLS.

I am thinking about getting either 19in or 20in HREs but I am leaning more into 19s.

I was watching some show, It's like the East Coast version of West Coast Customs, and some rap artist wanted 22" wheels on his CLS500, but I remember hearing the guy at the shop saying that the biggest he can get for the CLS are 21's.

it was Fabulous' CLS at Unique Motorsports, the funnier thing was when they said "wheels not available for this car yet", while im looking in the garage at my CLS on 20s i know it was filmed a while back, but not that far...

Ya after asking around a number of shop they all said 21s would be hard push. I ended up with 20's. Should have pics on end of the week.

Don't go larger than 20" on a sedan / anything that isn't a SUV.

So what rims did you end up getting?
