What Did you Pay for Your CLS?

Hello! I am very very serious about buying a 2006 CLS500, although I might wait for the '07 just for better resale value.

Just wondering how much you guys paid for your CLS and where did you buy it?

I'm getting $71 with all options except AMG Package, Distronic and Parktronic in Anchorage, AK. Dealer also said I can get a $5 grand discount with European Delivery.

Your Input is greatly appreciated!

$71K with all options including Distronic (without $5K AMG options) for $71K, I think it is a good deal. FYI, I paid $76K (sticker $79K) with AMG but without Distronic couple months ago. I am not doubting you but can you list all options and let us know did they miss anything?

Cheers,
hlkc

Thanks for the info hlkc. Here is exactly what I was looking at:

obsidian black, black nappa leather, 317 comfort package, 319 lighting package, 320 entertainment package, electronic trunk closer and keyless go (no distronic).

I want the comand DvD, but Mercedes doesn't make the Navigation Discs for Alaska. Might go with it anyways just for the resale value.

Went to the dealer today and the sales guy said he could give me the above options plus Comand DVD and AMG Sport Package for $78,500. I'm thinking they can go down to maybe 75,500.

AlaskaCLS,

Hold on - from your 1st message I thought they are offering you everything except AMG options and Distronic for $71K? Is your 2nd offer, $75.5K with Parktronic? If yes, I think it is a good deal. Unless you use cruise control a lot I will not spend the money there but instead I will use the $ for AMG options (IMO).

Thanks,
hlkc

Silly to get the 500 loaded with options vs a less optioned AMG at close to the same price...I've test driven each and there's a a world of difference between the two.

swisstrader,

Do u mean 500 vs 55 or 500 vs 500 w/AMG option? I agree with you that 500 vs 55 is a world of different in performance. But I don't see the same world of different between 500 and 500 w/AMG option, just appearance to me... If someone like CLS, he or she may find that AMG kits too much. But IMO, I think AMG option in 500 makes the car looks a lot better. Also, someone might get the non AMG option in 500 and turn it to Carlsson or Brabus CLS. Last, in my case, I really want 55 but first, it's $90K and no one will stock no option one unless I special order. 2nd, I can't tell myself just get stock 55,
IMO all other toys make CLS fun to enjoy/drive. Last, $90K stock plus just few options it will be around $95K+... and not to mention to wait for a year unless you are willing to pay extra that easily makes the 55 above $100K... In my case, I paid $76K vs about $100K that is good $24K+ different, it is not so close in my opinion.

Thanks,
hlkc

I don't think you've shopped the car around enough...I was one of the first to own the car, and yes paid a premium, but only paid about $86K or so...for the $10K difference, AMG option is a no brainer based on both resale and "fun factor".

Wow you did very good! $90K based car for $86K with options on CLS55!!! May I ask where you get that deal? Yes, if you can do that I will sure go for it. I did my research for few months calling everywhere and they all want $5K to $10K+ on the top of the base price.

Thanks,

I'm confused too, you paid a premium but you got the car for $86k??? The car with no options is $89 out the door(with gas guzzler, destination etc). Could you elaborate. thanks

That's excatly I don't understand. As I said if only $10K different then I will sure bought it as well. But in my case, I am thinking more like $20K+ compare to my 500. Please don't forget the premium that dealer is looking for now with any CLS55...

thanks,
hlkc

CLS55's decently loaded are about $95k to $102k. Anything for under $90k would have to be bone stock. I configured one with keyless go, trunk closer and comfort package (not even premium package) and I was at $95k. Lighting package and premium package brings it up to about $98k.

Hope this helps everyone out on this one.

So how can he get one of the hottest car out there ($95K+ MSRP) for "$86K or so..."? He must know something that we don't

I have some freinds who know some people who know some people in South Los Angeles that can "come upon" a CLS55 for $86k - maybe even a little less. It may need a little interior work since the key they had didn't work when they "procured" it. LMAO. I'm just in a goofy mood today - sorry for the kidding around.

The answer is that there is NO WAY you can get one with any options on it for $86k. If you want one that is completely stcok with no options you can get it for around $87k - $90k perhaps. MSRP is still over $87k bone stock so $86k is a long shot. I wouldn't want one with no options just to say i have one - would be super ghetto. Hope this helps.

john87699,

I thought the 06 CLS55 MSRP is $89K with no option at all? Also, I just can't imagine how can anyone get one NOW for less than MSRP.

Thanks,
hlkc

Ahhhh - I think you may all be reading it wrong - Swisstarder is talking about that he paid $86k for a 500 (the premium was around $10k above sticker it looks like.) So it isn't $86k for a 55, but $86k for a 500 w/ AMG package. make sense or am I wrong?

I doubt it, from his signature, it was CLS55.

Got me - re-read them again and you're right. No way he got it for $86k unless that thing is bare bones stock with no options. I disagree completely with Swiss's statement about getting a 55 with no options vs. a loaded 500 for $10k more - that's called you can't afford the car and you're trying too hard - lot of those here in L.A. Sorry to offend anyone, but if you're gonna buy a 55, don't skimp on the options just to afford one - that's ghetto.

Was just at the dealer. Car is on the water. Expected at VPC on the 15th. Paying 75,375 MSRP for a "generic";-) 500. Most are paying over sticker here still for the CLS and definitely over for the 55.

We all have our reasons and no regrets with what we ordered.

[QUOTE=MDCLS]Was just at the dealer. Car is on the water. Expected at VPC on the 15th. Paying 75,375 MSRP for a "generic";-) 500. Most are paying over sticker here still for the CLS and definitely over for the 55.

Ever wonder why the CLS gets over sticker and the 500 does not?...reason: the CLS will always bring top dollar and while the 500 is nice, it's not a CLS even if it's all tripped out with options...again, better to have a stripped down CLS than a fully loaded 500. :p

I have no need for a whole host of options and when people say you MUST have this car optioned out, they have no clue....keyless go has caused a boatload of problems for some MB users and I'm even less excited by options like vibrating seats or the auto close on the trunk where you press a little red button and your trunk will close all on it own (an option I have only because it came with the car the dealer had in stock, but is really a pretty gay option) or Parktronic, which for me is for old men who have lost flexibility. There are "right" options, and then there a just plain dumb options and for those who bought an optioned out 500 vs a stripped down CLS got hosed and will doubly get hammered on resale. Ever check out Ebay on Porsche Turbos vs an S vs a regular 911? Turbos hold their value the best, while the S and others look like a serious firesale is on.

To each his own and one man's ceiling is another man's floor.

Cls500 Vs Cls55

I also have to agree that I"ll take a fully loaded car over a stripped cls55. I know that the 55 is an incredible car but to drive a non option car is kind of like having sex with a condom on. the pleasure in not a 100%

Maybe he meant 96K not 86K
