I've been wrestling with the Extended Warantee situation and that Warantee Direct outfit seems legit but I have not checked with state agencies.
Unlike MBZ extended warantee you have to buy in the first year, you can buy it anytime the car is in warantee.
So why buy double-coverage (the Warantee Direct won't kick in for 4 years)? My conclusion is to evaluate the car for the 4 years and 50,000 miles, then buy in the 4th year. My CLS500 hasn't started out well, (steering angle sensor failure, harsh 2-1 downshifts, check engine light, 1 safety recall, and 1 service modification to do with the brake-by-wire) but has been fine for the last 1,500 miles (12,000 total).

Internet warranty companies are notorious for going bankrupt a few years after opening, leaving the insured's with worthless paper.
Do a google search for Warranty Gold. They were big 4-5 years ago, but gone now.
The only warranty I would buy are either the original OEM warranty, or the one sold by your local dealer.

I totally agree on this.
Do not buy warranty from internet.
Your MB dealer is best for this issue.

Sure your Mercedes Dealer will sell you a warantee after the first year but it won't be a MBNA factory warantee...it will be a "guess what" after-market product sold by (among others General Electric) someone else.. anyone out there give us the benefit of their experience with after-market warantees? Let's face it, it's just an insurance product.

The thing is that when you buy an aftermarket warranty from the dealership, you have someone to blame/yell/sue if the carrier goes bankrupt. The dealership, by default, is recommending the warranty and is earning commission on the sales.
However, if you buy direct from the internet, you have no recourse if/when the carrier disappears.

Not sure what the third party warranty thing is all about.
My dealer gave me two brochures offering "Mercedes-Benz Extended Limited Warranty" Price card. It says "Star Certified Only by Mercedes-Benz".
It says on the brochure:
Coverage similar to the new vehicle warranty
Available in 24 and 36 month terms
Zero deductible
Covered by Mercedes-Benz and not a third party
etc . . .
also says on the brochure "The Mercedes-Benz Extended Warranty can also be acquired any time during the new vehicle basic warranty period . . . so long as the vehicle has been maintained and inspected by an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer"
Is this still "aftermarket" warranty or is this original Mercedes-Benz extended warranty (as it says on the brochure)? Anybody know?
Thanks.
