06 cls500 pricing

my question is what is a reasonable estimate on these cars im thinkin about 52 right now with about 20-25k miles.. also i know once the 2008 comes out the price usually drops... in about 4-6 months do you think the value and price will drop a good 3-4k or no

I paid 56 in Dec one one w/ 17K miles and lots of goodies on it. Stupid dealer (non-MB) didn't even know it had push buttom ignition and left the key on a lockbox attached to the window. They kept asking how we got in the car - duh we just opened the door.

Smile Not bad...

57K is not bad...here is some info:

I am opting to go with the 07, which is why I waited to buy until now. Going through a broker at the dealer auction, I have seen 06 500's go for $51-56K, 06 AMG's go for 64-68K. 07 550's are going for $64-69. That's right 07's, so I defintely on the lookout now. After talking with some guys here in other threads about the difference and test driving both the 06 and 07, this could help you:

The 06:
302 HP
Electrohydraulic brakes which have more brake fade

The 07:
382 HP
Full hydraulic brakes, which do stop faster
Grocery bag hooks...cool feature in trunk
Smoother transmission

The 06 AMG:
469 HP
All the goodies with most of them.

I did have a question on the warranty extention, I had on another post with no answer. If you buy from a dealer auction, can you extend the warrany through MB to 100K? It would help to know on that one....

Hope this helps....it helped me on making a choice of which way I want to go.

I was quoted $73.6 for new 07 w/ PII, parktronic, AMG, Ipod, Voice Control and Pwr trunk Closer. This out the door with taxes and gas guzzler. Any thoughts. Oh yeah this price 5K below dealer invoice. or

What do you mean "dealer auction"? There is no such thing. If your talking Manheim or similar auctions where dealer's SELL their cars to brokers, then it is not a dealer auction but rather a closed market auction. That is usually where you find the off-lease cars that the dealerships liquidate to the reseller community but it is not "backed" by any one dealer/manufacturer.

Now, for the REAL answer... If you can get an authorized Benz dealer to "keep an eye out" on your behalf for a "general" car coming off lease (say a white CLS500 with limited options), then they may be able to get one for you before it ever goes to auction and as long as it comes into the dealership and they check it out, they can usually Starmark it for you. Of course, all this cost money and these are typically the cars you see on dealer lots as CPO cars. Alternatively, you can contact a high-line broker, tell him what you want and then get an agreement to pay a set fee over whatever he pays (say $800). You get the standard Benz warranty and can get a non-MB warranty with similar coverage (for most cars) for a MUCH lower cost (usually saving thousands but be carefull as some of those after-market warranty's aren't very good. That is what I did when I bought the 740iL listed below and at the time it saved me about $7,000. Do a search on "extended warranties" for more exact details.

Thats's exactly what I was referring to the Manheim Auction, I understand how the auction part works. I have a broker I am working with, his fee is $700. I just called the auction the wrong thing.

The question I asked was if I bought the car this way through the auction, could I get an extended warranty (such as the 100K) through an MB dealer, not an after-market. Is that not possible? I just wanted to be clear on my option in that case. It may cost more, but just wondered on that part. When I purchased my 320 E Class, I was able to get the extended warranty through MB, but I had bought a CPO from the dealer.

Reason being that I had purchased an after-market warranty on a car before, and the business went under. Now they are in liquidation and have to wait to get my money back after the courts settle that mess. I will do a search on extended warranties and thanks for the info!

No problem on the label issue. Sorry if I came across as a hard ***. I don't think that getting a MB warranty on a Manhiem car is possible unless you get a friendly dealer who will run it through for you (not likely as they are loosing the resale and the markup). As you mentioned, often the after market warranties are not viable options (worthless in some cases).

You do realize that there is a BIG difference between an AMG a CLS and a TRUE AMG/55? If yours does not have the higher performance /55 engine and supercharger then $47K may be about average for such a high mileage one year old car but I guess that is one way to get the price down. I noticed that this was your first post and you didn't clarify the car but since your posting in this thread, we assume it is a standard CLS (non-supercharged) AMG. In other words, it has the AMG wheels and body kit but not the engine. Still a nice car but there is a considerable difference in performance and cost between these two distinctions

i am more than aware of the differences, this is my 3rd benz (01 E, 06 E recently totalled). The car is actually actually 2 yrs old, original purchase was 07/05. After spending weeks looking, this was by far the best deal on a CPO here in the LA area. another benz dealer had one with 10K less miles, stickered at 67K (way overpriced) same options. I also have a friend who is a broker and checked the auctions for me and right now even at auction, 06's are still getting high 40's low 50's. I did my homework....

Ideally i was looking for something in the 20k mile range also. but for the price, the options, and again, price, i didnt care about the 10K+ extra miles. you should still be able to get one thats stickered for 56 at 50 or better. we got a bit over $7k off the sticker because we financed through them and they get paid on the back end. but we will be paying this off plenty early also.

do this, it can work if you use their in house financing since they make their money on the backend for the loan. Dont tell them youre going to put that much money down , only tell them 5-10K whatever but not 30. also stretch the loan out to 5-6yrs. they are more inclined to come down on the sale price of the car since they make much more in interest on the loan. Just make sure to ask if theres NO pre pay penalty on it. now you got the actual sale price down pretty far. in 2 months make a payment to the principle with teh rest of the down and refinance it, screwing the dealer out of their interest they thought they were getting.

Smile After a long process...

Guys I finally knocked down on a deal. I found a 06 CLS500 30K miles on it, with the following:

1. AMG Package
2. P2 Package - Keyless Go
3. Trunk Closer
4. Parktronic
5. Distronic
6. Voice Control Package
7. Hands free package

This was at $53K, and included the shipping fee to my house from Texas, and a full inspection at Park Place Mercedes. I wanted the 07, but this was a great deal. For the 07 I was still getting prices in the high 60's, even some at 70's. I do think I did good on this one.
