Is this a good deal? CPO CLS

Hi guys, I went to pick up a part for my ugly old 129, and the perfect AMG sport package CLS500 was sitting right next to customer parking. Against better judgement I scoped it out and when I wasn't payang attention a sales man got me. So after about 20 minutes of trying to get away, he throws me the keys and says lets go. I pride myself on being a hardass and not letting people get over on me. But after the drive I let all my defenses down. Long story short my old E55 got apraised while we went inside and he told me I can get you in a CLS today. Against better judgement I said okay show me the offer.

Here is the Car. 06 CLS500, 49003miles 744/w Ash, AMG sport package 5 star solid spoke AMG 18" wheels. All options, NAV, PT, decked out seats, the car is flawless, not even any curbrash, one owner, no missed serviced. CPO, 1 year additional warranty through the dealer.

So here is the Math... asking price is 33,995. + 8.9% Tax 2720 $36,715
My 99 E55 trade in was $5,900 but i owe 10 so that added 4200 something
So now im north of 40. The offer is 759 a/mo at 8.9% fo 60 mos.

I tried many times getting rid of the E55 at 10k but had no bites in 3 mos, not a single call. I even offered to get rid of it at 8900, not a single bite

Honestly this sounds like an awful deal but working out a friends M5 purchase and another friends A4 purchase this dosent seem all that bad. The insterst rates they got were about 8-12.

I tried to play hardball and get them to eat the cost of the E55, wouldnt do it.

The car has been on the lot since 11/15/09 and they said they have discounted already and wouldnt go lower

Im pretty sure I should walk, or wait. Considering these cars will be upper teens low 20s by the time the new CLS comes out.

basically the question is the car a good deal minus the E55 fiasco? Do you think it should be priced lower, or is it priced right with its options?

8.9% seems about 3% high at the minimum. Hammer them for a better interest rate. The CLS is a beautiful car.

You can do better on a few areas, the biggest of course is interest rate like mentioned.

I would look around at some CLS 55's and 550's at that price also. Don't get me wrong, I love my CLS 500 fully equipped and even distronic, but if I was in the market now, I would go for a 55/550/63.

Did you try selling your car on Ebay? I would try some more to unload it myself than take that hit at the dealer. Just a few suggestions..

congrats!! CLS500 is a nice car, my only gripe is the SBC brakes. Hope you told them to extend the warranty for 3 yrs instead of 1.

Sounds like a good car and a good deal. I agree with Kar Don about the warranty. If you didn't extend it, you may want to consider it. These cars are pricey when things break. I extended my warranty. It's a good feeling to know everything is covered.

Congrats! Out of curiousity, why would service "E" be necessary if it was a certified vehicle (believe this is necessary to get the extended warranty, but could be worng).

Usually the certification covers almost everything that doesn't meet certain MB criteria.

Well, the $671 sounds good. Congrats, post pics, I see you got the extended warranty as well. Good job!

I got the 7yr/100K MB warranty myself as well.
