Is your CLS your Daily Driver?

I'm just curious as if you all daily drive your CLS? More specific do you drive your CLS to work? Why do you or don't you?

Occupation: Manager/Finance: Manufacturing

I don't drive my CLS, I drive a 2003 Toyota Tacoma (Pickup) to work daily.
No one at work knows I have the car. To me it would give my employees too many reasons to say "look at this guy, our business must be doing well, I need a raise" In reality I paid less for my used CLS than some of them did for their NEW Honda's & Suburbans.

Whats your story?

Don

I mean its not an extreme sports car that can only be driven in certain conditions(ferrai, lambo, etc). It was meant to be a daily driver. And I LOVE driving it. But I actually had the same reservations as you did..didn't renew my personalized license plates(With my last name on them) for similar reasons(too much unwanted attention) and have been thinking about getting tints for that same reason. I will not stop driving it tho .

And yeah, some people think you are "wiping azz with cash" rich when they see it. Which is understandable. But if they only knew how little I payed for it(i got a superrr great deal..a steal) which was a LOT less than they paid for their brand new vehicles..they would be shocked .

My wife, an insurance agent, drove a 10 yr. old Jag XJ6 and took some abuse from customers when their insurance rates went up.
She now drives an 8 yr. old Audi TT and she still gets abused. People in my small town
think the Audi is a Porsche
She wouldn't even consider using my CLS.

I live near DC and we are hammered with salt on the roads so, I am detailing it and hand washing in the garage daily. My wife drives it daily and loves it, I drive it when we go out as a family.

Drive it every day. I'm a CFP, many clients have commented on the car and have been complementary. My clients are also financially successful, so they expect that I have a nice car also.

I am an wholesaler so on the road all day i dont take the benz unless its a sunny day and less driving to do ......It does give out the wrong impression ohh hes making good money business must be good ohh his dads benz...etc so i drive my Modified Honda Accord or My Honda Pilot during snow.....I would love to drive the CLS daily but really i jus dont want a line up of H8ters......Plus the more u drive it you will see more people buying the same model because they lack Originality.......

But the way i see it im on the way to become a AMG Killer............just waitin on the Kompressor.........

I drive mine as a daily although I have other cars...met a guy today and he emailed later sying "that car is 'gangsta'"...He was in an Escalade so whatever...I do get a LOT of comments on it being over the top cool...I will say it's unusual to see one generally...I got this CLS to replace my great 2000 740i Sport, same kind of feedback...They don't understnd that I can find and justify a used car that cost less than their Camry...people can be idiots...

I don't drive my 2007 CLS on a daily basis. I have a 2008 smart forTwo Cabriolet that I use for most daily, local driving. The CLS is used for all "road trips"- Giff Albright, State College, PA

Daily Driver for the last 2 years, so of course it gets driven to work too. I get compliments on it at gas stations quite often just because it looks completely different than most other cars on the road and it's a dime a dozen S Class or E Class.

Drive mine every day. Get lots of compliments which gets a little embarrassing. The down side is worrying about who might park next to or in front of me. People are inconsiderate around here and don't think twice about dinging doors or tapping bumpers. I figure, I'll only live once so I might as well enjoy it while it lasts...

Daily driver for me. I went from a fully-loaded ($50K) lifted truck to my CLS and wouldn't think twice about doing it again.

It's been my daily driver for 2 years now. Get compliments daily. I didn't buy the car for it to sit in the driveway or be a garage queen. It's not a Gallardo or something.

There are some people that would find issue with what I drive. I make sure to avoid them seeing me. Even to where I wait until the valet brings their car up before giving my ticket. No matter one's occupation, in today's financial climate, most would believe it is not great to flaunt a "nice car." Meanwhile, my friends and my wife love that I finally got around to getting rid of my '97 Infiniti.

I can't drive mine everyday because of the summer tires and I live in the midwest. Mine is debadged on the rear with only the 6.3 AMG badges on the front fenders so it has a lower profile and does not draw as much attention until I it the gas and dust everyone

I'm in the Army. People seem to think I'm rich for driving it. Idiots. Even though you can get the car for almost 30k less than what I paid for mine 2 years ago. Damn economy.

I 2nd that. Just got my 07 CLS63 AMG and can't even put into words how much I love the beast. However, it's just too scary to imagine that I am driving my cls out in the terrible traffic on a stressful Mon morning. So I still drive my Smart Forfour to work.

I actually looked at CLK's when they came out because they were "different", ended up buying a 540i.

Come to the dark side...
