Smelly AC?
Anyone have this problem? My vents emit a sour-vinegary odor. I've read a few places about mold in the evaporator unit and in others about the need to change the air filters - any thoughts?

If within VIN range A000001 – A075800 soundproofing mat to transmission tunnel may need replacement. PM your email address and I will send AC odor bulletins to reference for warranty coverage inclusive of filter change.

If you still have warranty dealer should cover; I just got mine fixed and no smell! The smell is the result of condensation at the bottom of the AC vents creating mold. Svc Advisor also said it's a common issue to cars in warmer areas (I'm in So Cal) since the front defroster is hardly used.

A friend of mine has a CLS55. She had the same issue for about a month. Had the A/C vents Cleaned out. Still there Finally I just told her replace the filters and go from there. Her car stays in Orlando and something must of got into those filters to make it smell. I say start by changing the filters first

My CLS 500 had the same smell issue in Southern Cali, l took the car back to dealer and they cleaned out the air-condition unit and spray with new scent. It was fine after that.
l tell you this much, it is not a filter problem, it is condensation at the bottom of the AC vents creating mold.
