2012 CLS New Engine reliability?

I am considering purchasing the 2012 CLS; however, I am concerned that the new bi turbo engine is new and unproven. I have heard it said that you should not purchase the first year of a new car. Does anyone have any information about the new engine.

Thanks.

a little bit of this... a little bit of that
Bear in mind, we aren't speaking about Yugo's grand opening or a newly introduced Citreon.

This is a Mercedes which has been tried and proven for quite some time. Through a pre-launch run where they have individuals drive it for a year before it comes out, to testing to etc and etc, you shouldn't have to worry about anything.

This is why there are warranties on cars.

Get over your indecision, jump in with both feet let me borrow it every other weekend and I will help you feel good about it all. Just don't paint it a multi-colored scheme.

The '11 CL550 has this same engine so it's not completely new to the US.

You are correct, plus Mercedes has been using bi turbo motors for a while in their AMG cars, which are pretty reliable.

The '11 CL (2 door) and the '12 CLS (4 door) have the 4.6L twin turbo but they are tweaked differently. The much more expensive CL has HP and torque of 429/516 and the CLS 402/443.

Thanks. With an engine that is not new to MB, I feel a little more comfortable about purchasing a 2012 CLS.
