Got 6k LEDs for my Front Parking Lamps - DIY Install?

Anyone have any suggestions / experience on a DIY install for front parking lamps before I attempt this for myself tomorrow morning?

I ordered the AZNOPTICS 5k, LED versions.

Thx in advance.

Called him and left a message w/ no response. I found another reputable installer in Ajax, will see how it goes.

I ordered the AZN Optics parking lights + license plate festoons. The plate lights are INSANELY bright and are truly pure white...sick. They are actually brighter than those Lexuses with the CCFL plate lights.

The 2 top screws on the headlights are easy enough to remove. I read that there is a 3rd screw that is only accessed by removing the bumper....so I gave up and I'm going to get a pro to do it before I F something up lol.

There is no headlight removal required to change the parking lights. Open the hood, remove the dust/splash shield from the back of the headlight and stick your hand (hopefully, you have burger king hands) and you will feel the socket with the bulb in it. Visually, there are two black wires leading to the bulb. Pull it straight out and swap the bulbs. Installation is the reverese. Word of advice, check to make sure the bulb works before putting it back in the socket. If it doesn't work, flip the bulb around and it should work. It should take you less than 15 minutes. FYI, if you really want to remove the headlight housings, the correct method is to remove the bumper. That makes it more like a 3 hour job. Good luck.

After reading these boards before posting this thread, I decided to try the install just by sticking my hand in the housing and not removing the headlight. Could not get the bulb out. Were you able to do this?

Front Parking light bulb Removal and install

Hi,
i just replaced my front parking light the other day because it was burnt out. It was easy to do, took me less than 5 minutes to change one.
1) Open hood
2) Remove plastic intake tube
3) Remove Plastic cap for high beam and parking light bulb.
4) At this point you cannot even see parking light bulb, Dont panic, twist highbeam bulb (Top Bulb) and pull it out. Leave it attached to wire and move it out of the way.
5) Now you will see parking bulb, do not pull on the wire, grab the housing with your thumb and index finger, everything is feel from here on out, you wont be able to see anything, twist the housing left and right to free it from the housing. So it is still in there but a little looser
6) reposition yourself and grab the housing again but now vibrate it up and down and pull back at the same time, took me like 10-15 wiggles but it eventually moved.
7) once the bulb and housing is out, put the other bulb in, test it before putting it back in to see if it works. Slide it back in by minor pressure on back ot the housing.
8)Put high beam back in, cannot see much here but push in and rotate at the same time, you will feel it click solidly in place.
9) Put cap back on, put on the intake and you should be ok.

Since i only had to replace drivers side i cannot say much about passenger but i am guessing it shoul dbe same, if anything the other side looked easier and less cluttered. HTH

Sweet! I was confused when you said intake tube. but clearly the 63 has a bigger set of intake tubes than my 550 so that expains why you had to remove it to get to the back of the headlight housing.

thx for taking the time to write the DIY...I will try this tonight.

NP, i think even with the cls 550 , you will find it easier if you remove the intake tube, it barely takes 30 seconds to do it. Good luck with the lights, just make sure you do not pull the bulb by the wires, pull it by the housing. Let me know how it goes.

I tried to do that as well. That was insanely hard to put the fingers into it. I was able to hold the housing, but only can twist a little bit to the left. The housing doesn't come out. I failed to do it with some cuts. DAMN.. I checked on some old thread, and people said that we supposed to pull the housing out, but not twist it. Plz correct me if i'm wrong? using c240's advice, I was able to change both my parking light bulbs. Thanks to c240 for his useful contribution to this board!

There are a few things I want to add;
1) "At this point you cannot even see parking light bulb, Dont panic, twist highbeam bulb (Top Bulb) and pull it out. Leave it attached to wire and move it out of the way:" >> This is the key enabler of this whole install, getting that bulb out of the way.
2) It is extremely difficult to get your fingers on the plug holds the parking light, SLOWY snake your hand behind the headlight housing and take your time to try snaking it in from different angles until you are comfortable that you can get your fingers onto the parking light plug.
3) You will likely get small cuts while attempting this procedure unless you go very slowly.
4) The parking light plug does NOT need to be turned counterclockwise or clockwise to be removed from the headlight housing. You need to get a good grip on the plug and jiggle it WHILE pulling it straight back out. It is the PULLING motion that removes the parking light housing, NOT ANY KIND OF TURNING MOTION since the housing is a SNAP-IN style housing not a rotational one.
5) After you swap in your new bulb, push the parking light plug back in until you hear an audible CLICK.

Hope this helps out some others on here.

Side Note: The AZN OPTICS 5K parking light is NOT and I repeat NOT a match for the CLS HID headlights. The bulb is too white and needs more of a blue tint. I will be ordering a new set of 8K bulbs to replace my 5K ones.

You are absolutely right, twisting motion is not required. However some of them are a little seized on because they have never been taken out. The initial minor twist just helps it get started. Not needed but helped in my case. Glad it worked out for you though!

Just installed the parking lights. That is really twisting and pulling altogether to make them easy to come out, but they wouldn't get off easily at all. Take a little time to pull again then again. Anyway, thanks guys. If I didn't have yr info, I really couldn't replace the lights. Finally happy with the V3 194 parking led from ANZ. =)

yeah, i tried to take pic of my drl light the other day but it was too bright too. . why do you have to change between the 5000k and 8000k? is it because of the brightness or the degree of matching here? If it is because of brightness and it's too bright already, why should you change to 8000k one?

The 5k does not match the OEM CLS HID headlights, because they seem to have a tint of blue

I did everything up to taking the parking light housing out, I was unsuccessful, it's very tight in there, I couldn't pull out the housing, I have McDonalds size hands unfortunately lol.

Surely there must be an easier way to do this?

I have attached some pictures for others if anyone gets stuck

I just did mine on Saturday and have the cuts to prove it.
If you have big hands it might be easier to get some long handled, angled, needle nose pliers in there.
