2006 cls500 rotor replacement

Has anyone changed their rotors on their cls500? Is it pretty much standard as any other car besides the sbc?

Is disabling it the same way as you would when changing the pads all that needs to be done to be able to safely remove the rotor?

I've searched everywhere but no one has posted about swapping their rotors out. Thanks in advanced!

I've read that people disconnected it a few different ways one being from under the hood. So I'm wondering if disconnecting the sbc will allow me to remove the caliper with no problems.

I swapped out my pads and rotors for drilled rotors and ceramic pads last winter. I disconnected the SBC Module under the hood and reconnected it when done. I made sure I left the key out of the car also. When I was done I reconnected the module then pumped the brake pedal to push the caliper pistons back out to seat the brake pads. After that I started the car and had alot of flashing lights on the dash and could hear the pump for the SBC running. I may have has to reset itself in my case because I compressed the caliper pistons back in for the pad swap. After pumping the pedal some more and a couple more ignition cycles everything was back to normal. Hope this helps and good luck.

Thanks dirty dog! Did you open the reservoir prior to compressing the pistons?

There is a big black plug on it. Turn the ignition off and remove the key. Unplug the modules main harness and you should be fine. As with any car with ABS you should always be aware that you could be seriously injured if somehow the brakes activate while working on them. Thats why its a really good idea to disable the system while servicing them. Different automakers have different procedures for working around these systems and I do not know what MBs is but unplugging the module worked for me.

Just wanted to return back with my outcome and boom. Easy. I did what dirty dog said and just unplugged the wire from the sbc module under the hood. To unplug you just pull up on the little handle thing, as you continue to keep pulling it upwards the whole plug starts to shift away and unplugs itself. To be over protective I left my keys far away along with the windows rolled down and allowed no one around my car (even though sbc was disconnected, better safe than sorry). Thanks dirty dog.

Didn't have any lights come up or anything just pumped brakes and listened. i'm fixing to take it around the block just to be sure all is well.

**Also wanted to go on the record and say I am not a mechanic in any aspect nor am I trying to be one. I did this at MY OWN risk and don't recommend this to anyone, esp if you don't know what you're doing.**
