I have a 2007 CLS 550. My local shop said 600.00 bucks for the tune to bring it to 402 HP. for 600 bucks, I am very willing to try, but I just wanted to see if anyone else out there has done the ECU tune (RennTech or whatever brand) and what the results were.
Thanks in advance.

Why not the OBD tune ? What would the difference be price / performance?

I'd like to know as well. OBD = On Board Diagnostics, ECU = Engine Control Unit
From other car's I've tuned, you connect a cable to the OBD port and flash or upgrade the ECU.
I'm not saying your wrong, I just would like more clarifcation on what you mean by "OBD instead of the ECU" - Also, I'm only aware of one tune for this car that advertises the 20 HP increase. I am willing to learn anything.
Thanks

I got a tune from OE Tuning (Done locally in Huntington Beach in a few hours).
After leaving the shop, the car was a beast. Sequel tires when shifting into second every-time. Shifting at 6400~ RPM and the shift seemed quicker and on point.
After letting the girlfriend drive for the next 2 days (my mistake) the computer seemed to have leaned in her favor (driving wise, slow starts, not aggressive). The performance seemed to drop off. It has come back quite a bit now, but its still not like it was the day I left. I am thinking about doing another reset to see how that works out for me.
All in all, very happy. Would recommend in a heart beat.

Hey I'm in OC, too. I rarely see modded CLS's around. We should have a meet or something.

ExploreI got the work done at "Benz Works" in Huntington Beach. Great MB shop. Awesome cars, they know a lot about Mercedes.
The cost was around 600.00 if I remember correctly.
