Hello MB car enthusiast.. a newbie here

I have purchased my first 2010 MB CLS 350 (C219) 10 days ago, and noticed oil leak on the front left Shock absorber. Yesterday, I found the car imbalanced and leaning towards the front left side, i have switched on the Airmatic suspension option to Sport-2 so all strunts are lowered and to get more balance. After one hour of driving, the dash showed a car symbol with an arrow below and text saying " Malfunction".

Does that means that the strunt needs to be replaced ?. Anyone had this problem or can offer me some advise/tips. I would greatly appreciate it.

I am not sure what type of shock you have. On my 09 cls55 I thought it was all air. As a matter of fact mine also started leaking (air) over the weekend. I got a red warning on the dash and the cruise shut off. The shock pumped back up and I was able to make it home. When I parked the car you could here the air leaking out, and the car lowering. Arnott is the only company that rebuilds the shocks. Rock Auto has the best price. There are videos on line showing how easy it is to replace.

So I just finished replacing my blown shock. Not to bad of a job. Only standard hand tools needed. The only thing I that did't make sense was the utube was only 6 minutes long and it took me almost 2 hours by the time I put everything away.

There is a caution sticker on my replacement shock that Air and Oil under pressure.

After inspection, i had to replace the Airmatic shock. Unfortunately, Arnotts are not available here and the cost of shipping is around $400, so i had to use OEM @ $1k. Next problem with the Airmatic, i am throwing in coil springs

For anyone that has replaced this shock. Ive seen that you need to disconnect the battery to do this repair. Questions are do you really need to? will you need to reset the system to function properly? and of course with the benz..disconnecting the battery will more than likely cause fault codes and did it do that when you repaired it.

My 320 did the same thing last year. Went to the dealer and it turned out to be a small connecting rod rather than the strut itself.
According to the service department it's quite a common fault.
Mine was repaired in a couple of hours under warranty

The guys at the place i have taken the car to have disconnected the battery, They have done a bad job since the car was tilting to one side and they said that it requires balancing/calibration which can be done only at the dealer using a special tool!!.
To save myself the headache
The car was sold last month

So disconnecting the battery will need it to be calibrated again? Anyone else had experience with that? manual said it just need to reset the efs, clock, and windows and sliding roof....

Im replacing my front right shock tomorrow if no response....Will hopefully do a write up as well since I'm doing it myself.

No, recalibration is required after shock replacement anyway.

Pressing the lift button on the car im guessing won't calibrate it...?
