CLS 500 upgrade exhaust questions

Hello, I am looking to change some parts of my exhaust to bring out the V8 more in my CLS500 07 mod and got a few questions, I have already bought an X-pipe, but I think that I wont be happy with just X-pipe so I tought about getting some used 55 AMG mufflers

But on my car i have the normal rear bumper and not the AMG version, wich means I will have to cut the bumper. But I have a black bumper and dont know if I cut it is black all the way or if its painted and will the tips look good coming out of a stock bumper?

Also will all models W211 and W219 55 AMGs fit my car?

And do anyone know what the connections from the resonator and forwards is? I have found some on supersprint that looks correct: Link but I think they way to expensive

All help will be appreciated

Cheers from Norway

When I bought my cls500 I had the same idea; install AMG mufflers to increase sound and sportiness. However, I believe when I looked at the cls55 AMG mufflers and compared with the cls500, the part numbers were identical. I'm not 100% sure, but check to make sure you are not wasting your money.

I did a straight pipe instead of an X-pipe because I read that the straight pipe is a bit more aggressive. I absolutely love the sound of the deleted resonator with straight pipe. It sounds amazing at startup and hard acceleration but is quiet in the cabin with no drone. My buddy said it was the most aggressive Mercedes he had ever heard.

There does not seem to be very many muffler options for our car. The curved inlet makes many brands such as Magnaflow and Flowmaster not at option without expensive customization. If you find something let us know!

When I get around to it I may have the secondary cats deleted. I have done this to my previous two cars with very good results. Feel free to private message if you want to discuss exhaust mods!!

Yeah the straight pipes are probaly more aggressive, but I got the X-pipe mostly beacuse thats what I have read most about and what I've seen good things about, was thinking of getting a J-pipe as well but more work to find. But im not having the exhaust moddified before I take the car out of the garage after the winter. So I have some time to decied about the rear mufflers, I know that CLS 55 exhaust fits and that the CLS 55 have better sound then the E 55. Not sure about the CLS/ E 63 tough

But my biggest question remains about the bumper, can't find anything about it

Is yours straight through with no muffler? Right now I'm running a custom xpipe made in the shop I got it put on and no mufflers and it sounds great but I was thinking about dropping the xpipe and going full straight.

I did a resonator and secondary cat delete replaced with straight pipes and it sounds good. Not super loud and almost no sound difference inside the car.

Mufflers are next.

So I finaly got the exhaust done today, I ended up with a resonator delete with straights, as the X-pipe from magnaflow was welded with some bad edges inside on all 4 inlets/ outlets.

But I went with some CLS 55 AMG mufflers and its sounds badass and I am very happy with it and the bumper cut looked fine

Congrats on your new exhaust? Do you have any pics?
I'm curious about your mufflers. When I was doing my exhaust I looked at CLS55 mufflers, but found the part number was exactly the same as the CLS500?
But it sounds like the AMG mufflers are actually quite different?

I can get some pics, but they are not the same.

Think they are more "open" and they are also have a bigger dimension on the pipe in to the muffler, after what I could find they are not same but the box it self is pretty much alike

That sounds awesome. How does it sound when you open the engine up on a straight away and hit the high revs? I have been looking to do this muffler upgrade for a while (I also deleted the resonator and straight piped it) but I was not sure on how much it would change the sound from stock. Did you do anything else besides delete the resonator and put the amg muffler on?

It sounds amazing until you get up in the high RPMs around 5K it gets a little lower but still sound good, but I think it sounds its best at around 3-4k on little over half throttle to full throttle.

Not sure if you are the one that i answered on youtube, but now its here aswell

Would you happen to have the part numbers for the CLS55 mufflers you had installed? Were they from the dealership?
