Recently picked up CLS550
I am somewhat new to the board and just picked up a Black 2007 CLS550 AMG a little over a month ago. Car had low miles on it (74K) and went ahead and got 4yr, 100K warranty on it to take it up to 174k miles. So far I am loving this car. Always wanted one when they first came out, but they were too expensive. I was able to pick this one up a really good price.
Modifications so far:
- Changed the front grill to an all black finish
- Lowered the car about 1.5 -2 inches with Lowering Links
- Installed K&N air filters
Modifications Planned in the next 30-60 days
- Rear spoiler
- Roof spoiler
- Front lip spoiler
- Powdercoat existing wheels black
- Replace Harmon Kardon stereo (sound sucks), looking at Pioneer AVH 2330NEX receiver and JL Audio XD700/5v2 amp
- Performance tuner chip??
Will post pictures soon
Question - do the performance tuner chips really work (for power and mileage) and if so, can someone advise on a particular brand (thinking about Quicktune or Viper).

Since you lowered it the camber will be affected more and wear out inside edge of tires quicker than stock height.
Look into OEM control arm bolt kit for camber/caster adjustment. Front only and is a fixed adjustment with limited range but helps for cheap money if you do it.
I did it it and also did the caster arms to get rid of a slight pull to the right. It is perfect now.

Hey 95viper thanks for the response. The shop told me that i woukd probably have that issue so they did an alignmemt after it was lowered. Cat drives great, no pulling but I will look into that option as well for control arms.

Cool. Just remember that camber and caster is unadjustable at alignment. I suggest that you get the 4 bolts and pull it in. It will not make it perfect but it will help.
It takes a lot of expense with Kmac kits or replacement arms if you want total adjustability and there are debates and downsides to those options.
I gave up on rear changes and did the bolts on the front because they were really easy. Problem though is that you have to get another alignment afterwards
