My CLS 53 has indigestion
So - I picked up my CLS 53 last week. Super happy with it. It's only a few years younger than my last car (2015 650 gran coupe) and our other MB (2014 e wagon), but it feels light years ahead technology and comfort-wise. It's also beautiful!! (see picture below).
But one thing that has jumped out to me (and everyone that has ridden in it with me) is its tendency to BURP at every transmission up-shift. It's really noticeable - even with the windows up - that the exhaust let's out an obvious little toot every time it shifts up. My kids laughed at it and asked me why the car was "farting"
I have the stock exhaust (did not opt for the upgrade of an AMG exhaust).
any thoughts?

That thing looks killer. Like the wheel choice.

Welcome to your awesome CLS53 - what you hear is actually "tailored AMG sound" which is a combination of the actual exhaust sound and kindof "added" sound effect thru your COMAND system - designed to be "AMG experience" - for a real kick for your kid's - profile up to Sport+ - when you back off the acclerator and/or auto or manually downshift - now that will be a kick for the kid's (and your neighbors) - keep the beat !

I've heard mixed information on the continued existence of MB piping fake engine noise in through the audio equipment. Regardless - this sound is coming from the outside. It's much louder with the windows down. Also much more pronounced in sport setting - however, I do not have the AMG optional exhaust - so not sure what occurs to change the pitch from the comfort setting.

It's not fake exhaust sound from the speakers , it's from the exhaust & the pop & bangs have been engineered in by AMG to make the car sound more sporty and aggressive.

How come people still buy a Merc in the 21st century and still expect it to be reliable? Hello?! Where the heck have you been for the last, I don't know, 20 years or so? You only discovered the internet now? Geez...

I actually considered one until I came to this forum and read all of you happy customers' stories... Unless they (Mercedes) get off their high f***ing horse and learn how to make a reliable car, they ain't seeing my hard earned money. I mean, it's difficult to trust in a company that can't get a motherf***ing ignition right, ain't that the truth, W204 owners?
