Pretty Quiet Here
I have been one to trade cars every couple of years, but I have been much more "reasonable" lately
. Have had my CLS53 2 years. Only put on 9000 miles , so I do not drive it daily, but I have been lately. It is a wonderful car, luxurious, powerful, comfortable, but I seem to have become complacent about it. Yearning for something else. Maybe more power, more sports car (I have a Nismo GTR so I don't need anything faster).Fast forward to this week. I had to turn the car in for a windshield replacement (rock) and service. I was given a C300 loaner. Not a bad car, and I am sure optioned lowly. I realize now how darn nice the CLS53 I have is. The interior, the ride, the power. I guess I needed an eye opener, the grass is always greener right?!?!? This is a great automobile. And I bet the rest of the CLS class are as nice.
I know, bullsh-t post, but the forum needed something
. At least I gained some new appreciation for the car. Yes, I still want a GT63S, but I think this car fits the bill for what I need it for. At least for the cash outlay.... Enjoy your cars people, it could be much worse...ncdoc

So, I ordered to my (our) specs a new 2021 CLS 450. It was suppose to be built in the second decade of February. As bad luck would have it we did not get a slot on the assembly line until the third decade of April, or so I was told. I got an email yesterday from my salesman who said he is checking on the car and will let me know the status as soon as Mercedes gets back with him. I told him to keep pestering them, and not wait for them to call him. I should have a number by now to track the car. How much you want to bet it is still delayed and not even built yet? These small dealerships in small towns in the country simply don't have the clout the big dealers have. In the past, I have gone to the big City to buy and order my Mercedes cars and never had a problem. I thought I would give the local dealer a shot this time, even though it cost me a little more, and I can see problems on the horizon. We shall see what happens but if I had known all this I probably would have waited a few more months and ordered a '22 model. It just should not take six months or longer to get a car, although I realize things have been fouled up by covid so I've been patient. I'll post back when I finally get the car.
Other than the above items, I will have basically the same car I have now, which was pretty fully loaded as is, including the parking package. This, however, I left off the new car. I have never used it. In fact, I doubt I have parallel parked in at least 20 years. Because I live in the sticks and seldom go to a real city, all I do is run the back roads and this car is a ball to do that. The roads are like a formula one track, they are smooth in good condition and there are no police. The perfect home for a CLS V8 in sport mode! The one thing I am most anxious to see is how well the in-line six performs in comparison to my hefty V8 twin-turbo. They spec out not all that far apart but to my way of thinking there is no way the six will out perform that 278 motor. I consider that engine one of the best ever in the Mercedes stable, at least for petro cars. They have made a couple iconic diesels that will last to the next century. Now the wait becomes aggravating!
