Need your help guys!
Ok I decided that i want to start doing some cosmetic mods to my car. Can anyone point me in the right direction for disassembling my side mirrors. I would like to have the turn signals tinted. I have an 07 CLS63.

PM Kevin M. he may have some insight, I have no idea how to do this. I did my side markers easily. Mirrors left clear

the first bit that needs to come off is the mirror insert. With a little force this will pop off from the tilt and turn motor and then disconnect the heating wires. Then you will see the screws holding the cover in place. Remove these and disconnect the indicator plug. The mirror cover will now slide off ( there are a few clips so it needs a firm push at the start ), If you need the painted mount cover separate you have to completely disassemble the motor section. I will post some pics later for you. I have put the 09 style on but I am going to get the old covers wrapped in CF.

DIY Mirror Breakdown
Ok, First you need to remove the mirror insert from the tilt and turn mechanism. Tilt it fully so that you can get your fingers in behind. With a little force it will pop off. Then disconnect the heating wires.
Now remove the 3 screws which hold the tilt and turn motor and disconnect the green plug.
Now remove the 5 screws and disconnect the indictor plug.
Unlike the new 09 mirrors the main cover is 2 parts. The piece that surrounds the glass will just lift out now.
The internals will now slide out in the direction shown. It takes a little bit of twisting and as you slide it you will notice a bung holding the bulb for the downlight. Remove this and continue to slide the internals out.
Finally remove the 2 screws and slide the indicator out. The downlight is just held by 1 clip and will pop out also.
If you need the base plate cover free you have to disassemble the motor section.
Thats the cover free. I have sent my covers to www.carbonskin.co.uk to get CF wrapped as these are spare now. I have seen these guys work before and its top class. If it works out i will sent the new 09 covers and my rear spoiler.
Good luck

Thats the standard finish on the grille, it cost me $375 from the dealer. It fits fine long the top but the botton 2 clips are different, but with the top in place it holds firm.

mcma1: my grill arrived today but there seems to be a bit of a gap on the bottom. basically the gap ruins the look and u can clearly see the tabs where the OEM 55 grill latches on to.
did u shave any of the tabs down there so that it would sit more flush?
if u can post some more close up shots that would be great as well!

well i found a simple solution to the problem.
i took some vinyl wrap that is the same shiny black as the grill and cut it to match the area that used to be covered by the OEM 55 grill. now it looks pretty good. the gap and the tabs are no hidden.
here is a camera phone pic. please dont mind the ugly placement of my front plate. got ticketed a couple of times and the holes to screw in the bracket are already filled in. its going to be relocated soon.
