09 comand into 07

Since the 09 comand has DVD capabilities just like the pre 08 euro comand, is swapping a 09 unit into a 07 simply plug and play just like installing euro comand? Does the 09 have the menu to activate video in motion along with all region codes?

The stock units screen goes blank when the cars moving but the audio still plays. I did not notice region codes in the menu system, hope that helps.

has anyone done the swap? are the connectors the same (plug/play)?

Check out the W211 forum, I remember seeing a thread about someone doing the swap. It is complicated and a hassle but can be done($$$). I was going to do it simply for the "harddrive" based stereo but backtracked once I figured how much it was going to cost(basically could swap out entire system for a better aftermarket system w/speakers for nearly the same price).

06 to euro 08 is plug n play.....these are model NTG1......09 is NTG2 has a media stick allowance.... any Euro command over the north american is with DVD playback......if u have Command with navi 08 and under....its plug n play ....09 already has DVD playback and u have to get a NTG2 video in motion module..... to watch while Driving.... I have it done to my 06........really one of my Favorite Mods......Next to the Brake kit...

So if u have a 09.....u jus need a TV in Motion Module....08 and under need the Euro Command and the Module....Kapish...

Cant install 09 in any late models ......08 yes ...

So you have the 09+ NTG2.5? From when I was researching, a lot of electrical changes were needed(take out AGW, cd changer,new amp, etc.) and a special harness. Is that what you had to do?

So a condensed version is that 09 comand into 07 = $$$$ and not plug/play, no menu in '09 for vim. Pre'09 just settle with euro comand and no hard drive? Am I missing anything else?? BTW thanks for the replies.

Prior to 09 you have 3 wires and 2 MOST cables, Wires are +12(circuit 30), ground, and MOST wake-up, All data gets to the Command operating unit via the MOST network. The command is not the master in this set-up, the AGW is.

For 09 and newer(NTG 2.5), the command is the master of this set up. You have all the previous wires and in addition; CAN B, mic input, mic out to Tele-Aid, CTEL cradle and compensator activation signal out, aux jack input, multimedia interface(if present), GPS ant, Bluetooth ant, and all radio ant, and if sound system is not present, all speakers and Tel-Aid mute signal.

In addition there would be the SDAR/HD radio unit, sound amp, and sub amp. And of course all the connectors and pins...it will get pricey quick!

Thx for the info!

But yeah, this reminded me why I decided to go the aftermarket route..lol. That route will render my speaker system and OEM look useless but the cost and sound quality improvement(after installing new speakers+amp) will be MUCH better than going the route of the NTG2.5
