Trading Porsche 911S for AMG GT-S or not
I am considering trading my Porsche 991S cab for GT-S. However the comparison test by Car and Driver, preference was still for the Porsche 911 GTS. My car has 8,700kms = 5,400mi. Is this the right decision or should I 1) keep the 911. 2)be looking at the 911 TT for a few extra dollars? 3) buy the GT-S.
I like the body style of the GT-S and the superb interior. I have concerns of the long nose and no AWD. The 911 TT has AWD and will probably humiliate the AMG. The drawback it is 20K more and it has a 60 year old body style with a basic yet functional interior.
PS I am a long time owner of both brands. I bought my first new MB and Porsche way back in 1983. Please do not ask my age!!!

The GTS is a combination of sensory stimulation. It looks incredible inside and out and sounds like a performance car should. A big plus for me is loading the golf bags in the rear hatch, not wrestling them behind the front seats. The transmission is getting much better as it learns my driving style and to me, it handles as well as my 991 S did. I was going to trade up to a 991 Turbo until I started to research to AMG. I trade yearly and for many many, it was Porsche for Porsche. Change is good, and in a year?????

Hi Hype,
I am not normally indecisive but this is a hard choice. The more I think about it, my choice is narrowed down to the Porsche TT or keep the Cab for another year or two. Secondly I like being part of the PCA. There are a great bunch of guys in my local chapter.

I think keeping your awesome Pcar is the way to go, you can always scoop up an AMG GT in the future

I would wait for another year just because the 991 gen 2s are coming out, and people would be easier to find a chance to own a current version of gt3 in another year. At that time, I believe you could get a bigger discount off the current 991 turbo. When the turbo and amg gts only comes down to a 10k to 15k difference I think I would still go for the 911 turbo.

I had a 2013 C4S and still have a 2015 991 GT3; the AMG GTS is a much better car than the C4S is almost every aspect and it rivals the GT3 in overall needs and delivery (mine of course). Its the street car with race cred while the GT3 is the race car for the street. If you don't track your car, the GTS is the proper choice with more accessible power and interior luxury. Both car's have great looks to them so that's a toss up. I wont even bring the C4S into the equation where its only win, IMHO, is the chassis set up. The 991 chassis is a great advancement over the previous iterations. I have had or have 3 991's including the Turbo S. The sound of the GTS is incredible and with the rear bias at 53% you can get some incredible launches.
As said, drive the cars for your own personal measure.

Thanks guys. I value all your opinions since so many of you talk from experience having owned both. The Porsche boards are somewhat more biased to put it mildly.

Well if you hit Rennlist then for sure LOL... lot of experience over there no doubt but you should speak to those who own both (if ownership opinions matter).
There are a few real world cars trapping 127 mph... The non S Turbo is around there too with better launches but I would suspect a good run from 60 to 160 with the AWD car losing power efficiencies due to parasitic loss. If you want sound coupled with power the GTS kills the Turbo or Turbo S. A vacuum vs a battle ship.

I have only seen the GT once. It was on display at Barrett Jackson sale in Scottsdale. The first GT's are just arriving in Canada. My dealer has one unsold that is in transit now. It was built May 15th.
The Canadian version of the base car is fairly well equipped. This car has only two options, the exclusive package and the AMG carbon fibre trim. I almost forgot the Diamond White paint was also optional.
My name is on the car until I see it in the flesh.

So this is the non S? No Dynamic Performance Package?

I traded my 2014 Porsche 991 S cabriolet and have absolutely loved the GT S thus far. Couple niggles but all cars have them.
