Non-Dynamic Suspension settings too harsh?

I typically ride in Sport+ with Comfort settings

It is hard but acceptable, I would compare it to the Sport setting in my Ferrari 458

but the 458 also had a Bumpy Road setting that made the ride even smoother... the GTS doesn't have this

then I tried Sport+ suspension and it was literally unbearable on typical roads, I started to hear all kinds of rattles in the interior that I didn't hear in Comfort

I know there is a difference between Ferrari Magneride and Merc Airmatic but do you guys think they could make Comfort a little more Comfortable with a software update?

There is no airmatic in the GTS.... they have magnetorheological dampeners and springs just like the Ferrari does. Of course the shocks and springs are made by different manufacturers and have different spring rates and stiffness factors but there is NO airmatic.

I find no issues with my car in sport plus for the drive logic and sport for the dampening- zero. It might be the roads or my expectation of road feedback. Its highly subjective.

They specified magneto stuff on engine mounts in the dynamic package but never said it was part of the normal suspension.

In either case the car goes up and down a lot finding every bump and I feel them whereas it would be nice to just glide over them in comfort mode and not have to hop around even if it's a soft hop with no jarring.

Yes, the engine and transmission mounts in the DP get the magnetic fluid. The shocks are the same for both non and DP cars.

dynamic package

I'm thinking about getting an AMG GT S made to my configuration and was wondering if dynamic package is worth the $2600. I'll most likely end up going with it as well as the CCB's. With those 2 options and some other things such as the seats and exterior color came out to $149k. I'm not going to opt for the higher end Burmester audio because I'll be to busy listening to the exhaust note. Can anybody who has bought the car tell me how much they bought the car for? And tell me the added options. Thanks

I have the following car on order for an April delivery. List price is $142K and I am going to pay $139K. There are probably better deals to be had out there, depending on the region, but the dealer helped me with my trade and I am not really the person to bargain down to the last penny because everyone needs to make a living. Similarly I opted out of the upgrade stereo because the exhaust notes are too intoxicating to ignore. As far as the Dynamic Plus Package goes, I spent about a week going back and forth on whether to get it. In the end, I opted to go for it since this is after all a sports car and it is supposed to be a little harsh. Happy shopping!

- Mars Red
- Forged Black Multi-Spoke Wheels
- Night Styling Package
- Dinamica Interior w/ Red Accents
- Red Seat Belts
- Dynamic Plus Package
- Lane Tracking Package

We've had our GTS with the Dynamic Package for a month now. Comfort setting is equivalent to SPORT+ on my 2010 997.2 GT3 or RACE mode on the Scuderia. On our backroads here in the Blue Ridge Mountains of VA, NC and TN---it is hardly "comfortable".

As a long-standing AMG customer, I would say Mercedes was too aggressive in this variable setup. I hope they do come up with a software update to civilize this platform on COMFORT setting.

In every other way, the GTS is a winner.
We don't all trailer our cars to DE days at the track and have to endure "regular roads enroute".

Vic is right it's typical fluid filled damper system but no magneto fluid unless you specified dynamic package in which case you only get that magneto fluid in the 4 corners of the engine transmission mounts.

The rest of the main suspension appears to be this highly praised system.

http://www.roadandtrack.com/new-cars/news/a5814/mercedes-amg-c190-shares-z-28-suspension/

Research indicates it is on par with the 3rd Gen magneto fluid system.

Still hoping for a software update that makes comfort more comfortable.

I wonder if the KW or Weistec springs will be a little softer than the stock dynamic plus pack spring?

I've found KW installation softens up the ride on every car I've owned. I have a set of sleeves on order for my GTS so will find out soon enough

I am also interested in this. A ride that's too harsh is not fun. I haven't taken delivery of my GTS - I'm about a week away - but I am a bit concerned about the ride quality - even though I did opt for the Dynamic Plus Package.

the ride will be comfortable with dynamic engine mounts if you opt for comfortable seats. I do not think you will be able to choose comfortable seats as i know they only offer sport seats in US.

FWIW Ive installed the KW's (was #2 here back in May or June) and the ride doesn't get any better but let me preface; I am dropped almost 2 inches with the KW HAS set up. I fully expect and understand that ride comfort will deteriorate when its lowered by this much. But with that being said I still find the car to be about the same as stock. So maybe using the more progressive set up of KW and not dropping the car to the extreme could possibly yield a more compliant ride. Its not a cheap option to test out though.

I think the problem is all in your mind and I don't think you drive a 458 or a GTS. This forum is full of bull most of the time.

Weistec in Orange County--- this was before they came out with their own private label HAS set up (which can be dropped further than KW). Call them for pricing as I can't disclose my deal since it was a combo situation with a tune as well.

not in my mind it is definitely a stiff ride on comfort and i think a lot of people on this forum would like a more comfortable comfort setting. there are 3 levels of stiffness so plenty of choices for firmer ride

here is my mars red beauty!

It is a beauty indeed! I have a Mars Red with black wheels on order as well for delivery in April. Still trying to decide if I want the glass roof or not. Leaning towards not getting it for the weight saving as well as to avoid the potential rattles. Any input on this will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

i haven't had pano roof rattles or suspension crashing noises *knock on wood*

i really like the pano roof it opens up what is a rather cramped interior, and there is a retractable shade if you want the closed roof feel too

I am a little gun shy on the pano roof because I have it on my E63 currently and it took me 2 trips to the dealer to get the rattles mostly gone. I still hear it once in a while, but not often. Does anyone know how much heavier the glass roof is?
