Purchase advice
1) I know the description of the dynamic package and stock...how do they translate to real world use? Specifically comfort difference, and steering difference?
2) Does the car bottom scrape easily over speed bumps? How about driveways? (Clearly varies...but how many people have an actual problem with this).
3) Do the additional modes in the Burmester high end "add" any practical usage? For audiophiles, can you notice a distinct difference between the two systems?
4) Does the adaptive cruise control provide any benefit on the highway...or do you feel you have to nanny the system? Also, does the star/sensor combo detract from the car's grill appearance?
5) Driver dependent...but how long do you feel you can drive the car before you "get tired"?
6) Has anyone driven a GTS and a GT to compare? Differences? Are stock seats more cushioned than the sport seats? Which do you prefer?
7) Does the Chrome package "add" to the appearance or does it look cheesy in real life?

2. This car is not low enough to hit anything.
3. I did not pay for the high end audio. My speakers still say "Burmester" on them. I'd rate it at about 6/10. I don't like when bass does not lower itself when the volume goes up. So there is a lot of bass distortions at higher volumes.
4. I don't have adaptive cruise on the GTS, but I do on the E63 and do like using it.
5. After 40 mins mine legs hurt a bit... But that's the case with all my cars as I am a tall guy. 6'2" and 230lbs. Otherwise my wife says it's the most comfortable of all our cars.
6. No idea, didn't even know there was a GT
7. I hate chrome and go through great lengths to get rid of it.
Enjoy!
1) How is the non-dynamic suspension when compared with your E63 (AHI)? One of the forum members (Lemon posts) feels like he wants to retrofit with the AMG Dynamic package. Why do you want to do that? I read your story of suspension spacers etc, by why would you want a more aggressive suspension?
2) I'm glad it isn't that low. That would **** me off.
3) Based on your response of bass distortion, gonna go with the high end stereo. Sounds like speakers are underpowered with lower wattage amp.
4) Nix'ing the Adaptive cruise. Daily driver with that option makes sense. This car will not be the daily driver, but frequent driver. Option would have limited use.
5) Interesting that your wife says it's the most comfortable of all your cars. As a passenger or driver? Do you have the Exclusive leather, Nappa, or Dynamica?
6) Yep, there is a GT coming. It has a Multimatic suspension instead of the Sachs (on current GTS), unless something changed. Don't know how that translates to real world street use. This was confirmed by an AMG rep over the phone. He said: The GT will have a more "mercedes" suspension you might be looking for. Don't know about that, but interesting. There is a review on Autofughel of the GT (not GTS) which has similar remarks regarding the suspension as the GTS. Wondering if there is no difference, and if Sachs actually better, but more expensive to work on long term.
7) Haha, I could go either way but see what you mean. Blingy chrome looks like crap in my opinion, but sometimes if well done looks good. Matter of taste i guess.
Any more input?
I can tell you that sitting in the car listening to the High end sound system I can here a difference then the floor model car that has the stock one. But then again I love to relive my youth so cranking Genesis, Floyd & Yes needs that extra punch for me!
Im glade to here he car won't bottom out I was worried about that myself as well my house has a garage that is up then down a hill and built under my house.
My M3 is farily low so I was not to concerned but thanks (AHI) for confirming this.
I did go with the Chrome Package I like the unique styling and I like Chrome over all I don't like Carbon Fiber so agree that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I guess that's why they have all the different options they know what there doing at MB.
I won't be using my car as a year round daily driver but plan to use it like my Bimer, to and from the office in the summer only and my Sunday go the meeting car in my case that's to golf and O driving with the wife on hot date night. I did go with the extras Lane Tracking & dynamic package but did not go for the adaptive cruise control, here in the windy city it's just to conjested to use it often.
I am only tired of the weather can't wait to drive my AMG GTS so I can know how long I can go on a road trip before I tire. But I suspect for me that's a tank of gas or two at most, as I tire in any car driving far so this one shouldn't be any different.
Good Luck with your choices, that for me was half the fun!!
I have the 4500 upgraded stereo it's very nice but I didn't ever try the standard stereo so cannot compare. I can say my stereo is excellent from music to audio books I listened to on a 4 hour trip.
On that note, 4 hours is a long time to sit in the car. It is snug. On highways it's comfortable since the roads are usually very nice. But for me around the 2 hours mark i want to stop, stretch, and admire the beauty from the outside for a few minutes before starting out again.
On my S Coupe it would go as far as steering in normal highway bends.
On my 2016 GL it does not steer but still fantastic on highway trips. Really makes a difference on multi-hour trips.
A side benefit is that in extreme poor visibility (fog/rain) the radar display helps in detecting vehicles in front of you, even if distronic is off.
I did not get it on my new GTS just because it was a bit of an impulse buy when the car came in, but if ordering I would definitely get it.

1) I know the description of the dynamic package and stock...how do they translate to real world use? Specifically comfort difference, and steering difference?
I don't have non dynamic pack experience but I would liken the lack of the package to that of a Turbo S with out PDCC. The car is just going to be more of a track monster regarding stability and lack of yaw and body roll. And yes it will be probably be stiffer as well. I, for one, am glad I have the dynamic package as it allows for more of the hp to be open in race mode vs without and the better chassis characteristics. I cant imagine the package causing much variation in steering.
2) Does the car bottom scrape easily over speed bumps? How about driveways? (Clearly varies...but how many people have an actual problem with this).
I'm lowered about 1 3/4 inches and still have no issues with angled driveways or speed bumps. The car sits higher in stock format that other cars like my Lambo, Turbo S, R8...
3) Do the additional modes in the Burmester high end "add" any practical usage? For audiophiles, can you notice a distinct difference between the two systems?
I have no experience with the high end system. The OEM system is ok, but it could use more bass. The best sound is from the exhaust

4) Does the adaptive cruise control provide any benefit on the highway...or do you feel you have to nanny the system? Also, does the star/sensor combo detract from the car's grill appearance?
I don't have it and would not use it. This car is meant to be accelerated up and down IMHO.
5) Driver dependent...but how long do you feel you can drive the car before you "get tired"?
I don't drive the car all too much in one given period. My longest drive was about 90 minutes in traffic up to LA. The seats are fine with tight bolstering and reasonable cushioning.
6) Has anyone driven a GTS and a GT to compare? Differences? Are stock seats more cushioned than the sport seats? Which do you prefer?
The GT isn't out yet stateside.
7) Does the Chrome package "add" to the appearance or does it look cheesy in real life?
I would avoid this, the car is meant to be aggressive and mean looking. Chrome creates a more elegant view to me and is better fit on a Bentley LOL.
