Vic do you have a side shot of yours to share? How much is it lowered?

Can those that have ordered the GT explain the comparison you did with buying a used GTS? What were the factors that led you to go with the new GT instead?

I believe Vic that you went with what was available at time and you had a lot of experience with KW.

Turbo hit the nail on the head.
You can option the GT to a GTS for basically $6K. The only thing you do not get is the race mode and you cannot get the adaptive engine mounts which I do care about as it's probably more trouble than it's worth.
If you are willing to tune the car, then the power disadvantage goes away and you save yourself $15K with taxes.

This is correct, Weistec actually did the install and then told me that once their product came out (2 months later) that the car could be dropped about 1/2 inch further.

$111+6=$117 ---> what do you get for 117k? Hard to believe that can get the equivalent of a +$150k msrp GTS.

Do the engine mount opinion address some of the issues highlighted by others on this forum?

Tnx

Performance exhaust $1.8K + Keylessgo .9K + Adaptive suspension 1.5K + Burmeister $1.3K = $5.5K. The options make a GT like a base GTS priced at $131K
The other options are available to both models except the motor adaptive mounts.
My MRSP order was $135K. A similar optioned GTS would have been $149K. Difference of $14K as mentioned in my previous post.

Vic

Do adaptive settings change body roll or stiffen up ride? Can you elaborate?

Yes, in the form of dampener rates- the stiffest setting, while the least comfortable over undulations, keeps the car planted about as flat as possible with minimal yaw especially in higher speed bends and turns. I use comfort when roads are adverse or imperfect so the car can endure more flex from the road.

While a case can certainly be made for ordering a GT and putting on individual options and saving money, the P71 package is much more than "motor adaptive mounts." For instance, it "includes increased negative camber and specific steering profiles" - and it has both engine and transaxle dynamic mounts. "In addition to the handling benefits of its variable engine and transaxle mounts, the AMG DYNAMIC PLUS Package sharpens the steering and suspension profiles. Tauter spring and damping rates conspire with sharper steering and more negative front-wheel camber for crisper, more direct response in the most athletic of driving situations."

A close study of the DOG and web site with the configurable options shows these and other differences. Not to say that buying a GT and optioning it up, especially if it is going to be modded anyway, is a bad idea - may be a great idea - but I wanted to see a bit more of a complete picture.

You make a good point, John.
I did not mean to undermine the P71 package but as you stated, if you mod the car, I believe the advantage of the package will probably only be experimented on a track by a skilled driver.
I can only wish one day to be able to feel that difference.
If my tree in the back of the house eventually grow dollar bills, I would for sure splurge for the GT-R next year.

so looks like my plans didn't play out as intended...

after much back and forth, i decided against building a new '17 GT to my specs in favor for a '16 GTS ED1 CPO w/ 1,700miles. here's a shot of me stretching her legs on her first PCH run:

Sony: can't go wrong with your choice. Congrats on the upgrade. I bet you can't stop having that grin on your face.
Make sure you login the private lounge and read up the few threads about first year production problems. if you ever encounter issues, this is a wealth of information that can help you be informed and share with your dealer. Make sure you get your Ed1 updated with the latest software updates.

I have CCB's on mine and they are both front and back.

I was looking at the C63 S coupe at first then thought, "YOLO" and placed a deposit on a '17 GT.

Here are the specs:

GT $111,200
896 Brilliant Blue Metallic $720
601 Black Nappa/Dinamica Exclusive - Yellow $3,100
B26 B26 AMG Aerodynamic Package: Larger Front Splitter & Side Sill $2,850
B26 : AMG Aerodynamics Package
U94 : Fixed Rear Spoiler
H21 AMG Black Piano Lacquer Trim $750
L6G AMG Performance Full DINAMICA Steering Wheel
P60 AMG Exterior Night Styling $750
U78 AMG Performance Exhaust System $1,800
260 Rear Deck Lid Badges - Delete Code
318 318 Exclusive Interior Package: Nappa Exclusive Leather, Black $3,600
61U : Black Dinamica Roof Liner
877 : Ambient Lighting
389 389 KEYLESS-GO® Package: KEYLESS-GO® $900
P17 : KEYLESS-GO Package Code
871 : HANDS-FREE ACCESS
889 : KEYLESS-GO
416 Panorama Roof $1,260
479 AMG Adaptive Suspension $1,500
659 19"/20" AMG Cross-Spoke Forged Wheel - Black $2,200
810 Burmester® Premium Sound System $1,300
993 993 Lane Tracking Package: Blind Spot Assist, Lane Keeping Assist $875
22P : Lane Tracking package code
234 : Blind Spot Assist
476 : Lane Keeping Assist

On with the questions:

1. Does LSD differ from the GT to GT S (mechanical vs electronic)?

2. Am I correct when saying that there are no mechanical differences between GT and GT S and that a tune on each car should net the same results?

3. Are the CCBs on front & rear, or front only?

4. Anyone find a solution to getting rid of the headlight reflector for US spec'd cars?

Last question is how I'm keeping sane waiting until November for delivery...

Thanks all!
