Tough AMG Competition for AMG GT-S on the Drag Strip
Surprising things happen when an AMG GT-S faces off with some of its less-regaled AMG counterparts.

Lol, horrible start it seemed like in both races. Anyway the real special part of this clip is the ML...Wow that is very impressive. I have a friend with an ML63 stock and I had to show him this clip.

In re one the GT took the left first and took holeshot, if you look you can see the reaction times posted to the bottom of the screen.

I'll take a look again, I was just going off of first impression, that's why I said "it seemed like". I was focusing on the CLS the first race, something appeared odd at the start.

12.2 and 12.7 is not the norm for this car especially tuned.
The carmags has mid 11s and dragtimes has 11.3 for a stock car. Renntech and Weistec are high tens with a tune. The trap speed of 203 and 204 is inline with the tuners car (high 120s).
The conclusion on this is the driver did not represent the GT well. If he had driven the car correctly, it would have won both races time wise with an edge developing at the top end for the CLS because of its low cd of .26 versus .36 for the GT.
I am not sure why mbworld says that the CLS increased its lead. The GTS had a 1.34 sec deficit at the quarter and at the 1/2 mile it was down to .5 second so it was actually catching up. It was the same with the ML, it was .44 sec slower at the 1/4 but only .26 at the half.
The only thing that does not make sense is that the GTS was down 1 mile in trap speed at the 1/4 but 3 miles at the half yet it reduced its deficit by .8 seconds against the CLS. With the ML, it pretty much kept its speed advantage thru out the whole race and only lost 1mph. I would expect the larger 5.5 engine with its significantly higher hp and torque to have an advantage past 120mph.

The gts lost enough with the speculation cry babies. Yeah driver error. It's an automatic in case you didn't know. Heat up the tires in staging and hit the gas when the tree turns green. Real difficult

If this was that easy, how do you explain the 10.9 by Weistec on an identical tuned car ?
I know that in different day and place you get different result but we are talking about more than a second here.
What you say is correct if you have an AWD car like a GT-R or a PTT. With a RWD car like the GT-S there are skills involved in getting a 60 foot time in the 1.7s like Weistec did.

My 5500 pound 09 CL63 can run better than 12.7.
