Transmission drain/fill plugs marked with yellow paint?

If someone happens to be under the car, can you please verify that transmission drain and fill plugs are marked with yellow paint from the factory?

I need to verify if the dealer actually performed fluid change service that I paid them to do.

I bought my car CPO, and came with the yellow paint. After the service, the plugs had the same yellow paint and now I'm not sure if the dealer performed the service. I drained the fluid and it's filthy! I've driven maybe 400 miles since the service.

The dealer stated that the plugs are NOT marked from the factory.

Thank you..

If the yellow mark is still there and the fluid is dirty, most likely the service was not performed.

shardul,

I agree. But I wanted to be sure and give the dealer the benefit of doubt. What if the previous owner did service the fluid and marked the plugs?

So I need to be certain the plugs are not marked from the factory.

We have 5 GTs in house currently and they all have paint on the drain plugs from Mercedes. There is also no mention in technician literature of a dealer needing to add new paint after a fluid change.

What fluid are you draining? There is an ATF circuit that controls the dual clutch and a gear oil section that lubricates the manual gears and differential section.

The fill instructions are fairly detailed, the order of operations and temperatures that Mercedes recommends should be followed.

I hope this helps and good luck.

There is a brace that runs under the transmission right under one of the drain plugs, it was squeaky clean until I drained my fluid and got oil on it.

So far I've only drained the differential/gear oil. I have not drain the DCTF fluid.

Thank you Weistec for confirming that.

By the way, I have your coil-overs. Waiting on ADV1 wheels to arrive so I can install them both at the same time.

No problem, let us know how you like the coil-overs.

Weistec might be able to comment on this but I believe most dealership service departments actually use a vacuum system to extract some lubricants. I know they do it that way for the engine oil at least, that might explain why you found no evidence of any fluid residue on the cross member....just a thought. Also, If I am not mistaken the dif fluid drain plug is not reusable, it should be replaced with a new one whenever a fluid service is completed so if there was any paint on from the factory there should not be any paint on it after the dif fluid change.

Thanks Jrcart.

Good points, but if the dealer did follow the workshop procedure they would have drained it. Now that I've done it, it would be much easier to drain the fluid by removing the factory drain plugs then using a pump to suck it out (gravity )

Anyhow, thanks all for the inputs. Great community!

I was unsure of the official procedure that the factory calls out for that service, I was simply speculating....and yes, I agree with you that gravity would seem to get the job done better than fighting gravity with a vacuum. When I asked the dealership why they use vacuum they claim they can get more oil out and do it quicker than draining it.
