AMG GT R $1000 Gas Guzzler

In case anyone was wondering, the gas guzzler tax for the GT R is showing $1000 in the MB system.

I'll need a slot which will come with the GTR......

Are you in the Advanced Class or?

Maybe MB/AMG will pay the $1k since we have been so good and waited so long.......

Yeah advanced. Should have been pro but they didn't accept a couple of road courses.

I would call them and they will hold a spot considering your situation. You will get your car in the next couple weeks. It was that gas guzzler tax that was the last ridiculous hold up

No GGT on my 18 GTS or 991 GT3 but $1000 GGT for the GTR and 991.2 GT3. Interesting.

Only $1,000?

With a combined MPG of 17, the chart I'm looking at shows a tax of $3,000. See page 2: https://nepis.epa.gov/Exe/ZyPDF.cgi/...y=P100F3YZ.PDF

I saw that too in the EPA regs. The value in the MB system is $1000 as of yesterday. My M6 had a combined MPG of 16 and the gas guzzler was around $1300 if I recall correctly.

MB may be eating some of this cost if the $1000 proves accurate.

Yeah, the EPA regulations state the dealer/manufacturer is responsible for the tax. Which I didn't know. So maybe they split the tax up and eat part of it, which is awesome actually.

The manufacturer pays it up front (never the dealer) but I'm not sure how some values are adjusted. It could possibly be a weighted average of city/highway driving but thats just a guess without my usage of Google

Ultimately we, the end users, pay for it thru the MSRP of the car.
