Porsche gt3 trading to amg gtr
New gtr and new member to the forum

Hi Guys,

just closed a deal on my 2018 Gtr. I plan to track this car like I did with the Porsche gt3 I traded and many other cars I had in the past. No garage queen! Next mod is wheels and Hoosiers...

Awesome! Would love to see you out at COTA. I highly recommend Edge Addicts.

May I ask why new wheels? Weight? Looks? Size?

Hell yeah im going for the March event, Trevor and Karen are good friends, lots of track days with them...
Right now I’m looking into carbotech pads for better stoping with the wheel and tire combo. I don’t know the numbers on forgeline wheels since I haven’t got a chance to contact them.
I used to run same set up in the gt3 and it was 3-4 seconds faster than the trofeos or mpsc2. The biggest difference is the consistency on lap times. Stock tires have one or two constant laps the rest you are all over the place...
If you go for the March event look for us, we most likely have the air conditioning garages (1-2-3-4) since we have our own run group. We are the “track rats” lol

Thanks but not likely, I like to keep it original when I sell it and for normal driving.

Great Car and track and not too much longer. Just enough for break in.

Others have tried to sort how to adjust suspension as AMG has indicated as much. I’m sure you’ll figure it out.

Awesome! That'll put three AMGs there.

Love Karen and Trevor. I come out anytime they come to COTA.

So, you are one of the "Purple" guys huh! You've seen me there before then. Love to hear about the car in March. I test drove the GTR at COTA and it was a beast. I bet you'll destroy your previous best time in a GT3. Have fun breaking it in before then.

The more I think about it, the more I just want the traction control knob more than anything else. I want something in between "Sport" and "Oops, too much gas in T1, now I need new bodywork".

First, congratulations! Given the dealer hold orders on deliveries I am curious if the dealer allowed you to drive this car home? My understanding is due to the seatbelt recall, all deliveries of all GT models nationwide is on hold. (My roadster is currently sitting on the dealer lot) I think it could be as late as March before any cars are released.

that may apply to cars built a while ago. My car was built 11/17 and arrived and us being released tomorrow . There is NO recall on my vehicle. Guess it has the new seat belts.

I don’t know yet, probably the same size since the Hoosiers are a little wider than stock, but hopefully at least increase to 285 in the front.

The optional tyre is of course the MPSC2 ZP tyre found on the FE7 version of the C7 Z06 in the 285/30/19 F and 335/25/20 R sizes. Are those the size of tyres you’re going to be installing or are you going with 19” wheels F and R in a custom size?

My plan is to go 19 so that I can use a softer compound like the R7’s. But if i was using regular tires you are right, I would go to 285 in the fronts like the corvette.

What are your thoughts on a high quality ‘dash cam’ that also has GPS functionality that is useful for road courses?

I’ve been using the PDR and Cosworth Toolbox software in my Z07, so I’m looking for something along the same lines.

TIA,
Bish
